Grimes is known for her experimental music, bold style and arguably eccentric tastes. The singer seems to do whatever she wants, even if it isn’t exactly the norm. Or perhaps, especially if it’s not the norm. That’s surely why she claims to have just gotten a face tattoo — and a totally unique one.
In case you missed it, Grimes took to Instagram to show off her face tattoo on Wednesday, October 22. If you can’t spot it at first, take a look at the semi-circle around her eye that stretches up through her eyebrow and down across her upper cheekbone area. That’s it!
“Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo but I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed, not even my parents, not even after the video lol,” she wrote in the caption. “That said I think [tattoo artist] @glyphomancer is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats — there’s a true beauty, delicacy, and innovation here imo.”
“Feel like tats are in a crazy renaissance period that’s sort of under appreciated atm,” she added.
Grimes Has Been Considering a Face Tattoo for Years
Getting a face tattoo may seem like a bold decision — and it is — however, it’s one that Grimes has been thinking about for years. Indeed, back in September 2022, she hopped onto social media to discuss the possibility.
In an Instagram post (via People), she asked her followers if they had any opinions when it came to a potential face tattoo.
“I am very seriously considering getting a white ink tattoo on my face next week,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “Any thoughts?”
“It feels like it’s time,” she added.
Plenty of Grimes’ Fans Love Her Face Tattoo
Grimes seems to be pretty pleased with her new face tattoo, and she’s not alone when it comes to liking the unusual ink. Plenty of her fans took to the comments of her Instagram post to tell her how much they love the addition.
“It looks so great on youuu,” wrote Glyph, the artist who was responsible for the tattoo.

Another person added, “Very much you and it fits you perfectly 😍”
Beyond that, someone wrote, “That’s actually cool 😭👏”
