Hilary Duff Confirms Her Return to Music After 10-Year Break: DETAILS

Hilary Duff is officially stepping back into the music spotlight. The actress and singer, 37, announced on September 9 that she has signed with Atlantic Records, marking her first new music in a decade. Alongside the news, Duff revealed plans for a docuseries that will document her comeback.

The project promises an โ€œunfiltered vignetteโ€ into her world as she juggles motherhood, recording sessions, and preparing to return to the stage.

A Docuseries Following Her Journey

The series will follow Duff as she raises her children, records new music, and gets ready for live shows after more than a decade away from the stage.

โ€œEmbracing the ups, downs, and everything in between, fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade,โ€ the statement read.

The project will be directed by Sam Wrench, best known for Taylor Swiftโ€™s “Eras Tour” film and Sabrina Carpenterโ€™s holiday special “A Nonsense Christmas.” A release date has not yet been announced.

Duff Reflects on Her Time Away

Duff last released an album, “Breathe In. Breathe Out.,” in 2015. While she teased new music in the years since, she admitted in a December 2023 interview with Access Hollywood that motherhood made it hard to carve out time for recording.

โ€œI always am thinking about it,โ€ she said at the time. โ€œI never wanna blame my kids for this, but Iโ€™m so immersed in motherhood right nowโ€ฆ I have to just figure out a way for those two things to meet.โ€

Still, Duff said she knew a return was inevitable. โ€œI really do believe that Iโ€™ll just one day be like, โ€˜I have to do it,โ€™โ€ she explained. โ€œItโ€™s gonna happen โ€” I just donโ€™t know when.โ€

Even without releasing music, Duff has stayed firmly in the spotlight. She charmed audiences on TV Landโ€™s “Younger” from 2015 to 2021 and went on to produce and star in Huluโ€™s “How I Met Your Father,” which aired for two seasons.

At home, she has embraced life with husband Matthew Koma, whom she married in 2019. Together they are raising daughters Banks, 6, Mae, 4, and Townes, 16 months. Duff is also mom to son Luca, 13, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

Now, with music calling her back, Duff is ready to balance the two roles that mean the most to her, being a devoted mother and returning to the stage as a performer.
