Limp Bizkit took the stage on Nov. 29 in Mexico City for their first show since the passing of bassist Sam Rivers, and they honored him in a very sweet way.
Rivers passed away at the age of 48 on Saturday, October 18.
He was one of the founding members of Limp Bizkit, which formed in 1994.
Limp Bizkit Plays Video of Sam Rivers Over the Years
On Saturday night, the band took a moment and shared a video with the crowd, which included numerous moments of Rivers over the years.
And at the end of the video, there was a sweet message.
“Sam Rivers, our brother forever. Sam Rivers, we love you forever,” they wrote.
The band also dedicated the show to Rivers, with Fred Durst making a sweet statement before playing “Break Stuff.”
“Now we’re gonna do this (expletive) Limp Bizkit style. Tonight, this one’s for Sam Rivers,” he said.
And prior to the show, drummer John Otto posted a message on Instagram, speaking about what this show meant.
“Today is going to be tough,” he wrote. “A first I never wanted to experience. Especially not now. You’ve been there for so many major firsts in my life. Some of my earliest memories were made with you. We grew up together. Laughed together. Realized our dreams together. And traveled the world together. You’ve always been there. The godfather to my girls, my best friend-my brother. There will never be another you. We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play. You’ll always be with us.”
“Thank you to our fans for all the messages of support and tributes to Sam. It means the world to us,” he added. “This one’s for you, Sammy.”
More Details Emerged in Sam Rivers’ Passing
Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesShortly after his passing, more information came out. However, no official cause of death has been reported.
TMZ reported in October that St. Johns County, Florida, Fire Rescue responded to a call for a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest.”
“Deputies responded to an attended death at that address,” a representative for the St. Johns County Sheriff told the outlet. TMZ clarifies that an “‘attended death’ is one in which the deceased has been a patient under medical care for a serious or life-threatening illness that will likely lead to death in a relatively short period of time — days or months, but not years.
