Oasis is one of the most beloved rock bands of all time. This status is thanks to hits like “Wonderwall” and “Stand by Me.” The group is currently on tour, but the guitarist, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, has just announced a hiatus. This announcement comes as he’s receiving treatment for cancer.
Arthurs said on the X platform, “Early this year, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.”
The Oasis guitarist continued, “Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney. I’m really sad to be missing these shows, but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America.”
He then said, “Have an amazing time if you’re going this month, and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”
Fans React to the Change in the Oasis Tour Dynamic
Of course, Authurs is a founding member of Oasis. As a result, many fans were eager to see him on the group’s ongoing tour. However, he received a great deal of support on social media after his brave announcement.
One person said, “Rest up, Bonehead. You’ve made a million people’s dreams come true this summer. See you on that stage soon.”
Another fan wrote, “Stay strong! We’ll be waiting for you with a big, friendly hug in November.” They also posted a picture with the Oasis guitarist.
Another person commented, “Oh, bonehead. We love you so much. Thank you so much for a fabulous tour – you’ve beaten this awful disease once, and I have no doubt you’ll beat it again. Much love.”
Finally, someone else credited Authors for the group’s current tour. They wrote, “It’s largely thanks to you that all of this has been possible; you are the invisible link that unites Liam and Noel. Thank you for allowing us to live a waking dream. Take care. I send you lots of strength and love, and see you next year.”
The Tour Started Months Ago
Oasis began the “Oasis Live ’25 Tour” on July 4 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Notably, this marks the group’s first tour in 16 years. According to the band’s website, this portion of the tour is scheduled to last until November 23, with its last stop in Brazil.
Per Authurs’ statement, he will be rejoining the tour in November.
