Part two of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion is set to air on Bravo on August 16. Now, ahead of the episode, Bravo has released a new preview in which Phaedra Parks questions costar Pinky Cole about her bankruptcy and defends her legal career and past work with singer Bobby Brown. Plus, see her 2013 comments about the late Whitney Houston and her recollection of when they first spoke.
Phaedra Parks Responds to Questions About Her Past Legal Work With Bobby Brown
In the newly released clip from the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 17 reunion, Andy Cohen asked Cole about the status of the bankruptcy she had filed ahead of the show’s premiere. Notably, this had been part of her storyline on the show.
However, Parks chimed in, wondering why the Slutty Vegan founder considered the legal filing a positive when she had investors who would be affected. The two continued arguing about the topic for a while before Cole invoked an RHOA favorite one-liner, saying, “Win some more cases.” She then said, “Call Bobby Brown.”
Parks responded, “Call Bobby Brown. If I was a bad attorney, baby, I was with Bobby Brown for eight years. I think he could have replaced me.”
Phaedra Parks Previously Opened Up About Bobby Brown And Whitney Houston
GettyBy most accounts, Phaedra Parks began serving as Brown’s attorney in the early to mid 2000s. Because of this, she also developed something of a relationship with Whitney Houston, who was married at the time. Parks opened up about their connection in a 2012 OK! interview.
Notably, this came roughly a year after Houston’s tragic passing in February 2012. Regarding whether she’d spoken to the family, she stated, “Actually, I just spoke to Pat—her sister-in-law. They contact me often; they recently had their show on Lifetime, and so the same young ladies that produced that show produced the Being Bobby Brown show that I was on years ago, when I worked with them very closely.”
After that, Parks gave Brown and Houston credit for the high profile she’d achieved. She said, “I always loved Whitney; I’ll always credit her and Bobby for a very important part of my career and for my notoriety. Because a lot of the time when people hear Phaedra Parks, the first thing they say is Bobby and Whitney; that’s the Bobby and Whitney attorney.”
The RHOA Star Also Discussed Whitney Houston Reaching Out to Her
GettyShe went on to note that it was Houston who had trusted her enough to represent Brown despite her being so “young” at the time. Parks then recalled the singer reaching out, saying, “I remember vividly the day she first called me. It was a Sunday I was having some collard greens, mac and cheese, and turkey and gravy. And I remember answering that phone and her voice, because, you know, she had that raspy voice.
Hey, um, can I speak to Phaedra? This is Whitney Houston.’ I said, ‘Huh, hold on.’ It was Sunday, 4 pm, Whitney Houston calling me on my cell phone? I had to remain calm; I grew up idolizing her. I remember ‘You Give Good Love.’ I remember singing that and wrapping a blanket around me and standing in the mirror and dancing around. For brown girls, she was a goddess.”
From there, Parks recalled meeting Houston at the Ritz-Carlton and talking with her for upwards of four hours. Regarding the capacity she worked with Houston and Brown, the RHOA star said, “I would meet Bobby; she hired me, and 7 years later… I worked with them throughout the divorce and everything.”
