Beloved Rock Legend Forced To Cancel Tour For ‘Medical Reasons’

Ritchie Blackmore, who was a founding member of the popular bands Deep Purple and Rainbow, had some sad news to shared on Nov. 18.

The 80-year-old star revealed that he has to cancel all the remaining shows on his tour for medical reasons. The news was shared in a Facebook post, with Blackmore writing, “All Blackmores Night shows postponed at this point due to medical reasons. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

No details on the “medical reasons” were revealed.

Six performances were set, but Blackmore only performed two in Virginia and Pennsylvania before having to cancel the remaining shows in New Jersey, Delaware, and New York.

The news was also shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, and many fans left sweet comments.

“Don’t push yourself too hard and take care of yourself,” one fan wrote.

“Hoping for a quick recovery,” another fan commented.

“Take care and get well soon!,” a fan said.

“Get well Ritchie, guitar master!,” someone else stated.


Ritchie Blackmore Suffered a Heart Attack In 2023

Blackmore’s wife Candice Night revealed in a 2023 interview that her husband suffered a heart attack along with some additional health issues.

“Ritchie has actually been told by his cardiologist not to get in a plane,” Night said in an interview with Total Rock. “He had a heart attack about a year and a half ago. He’s got six stents.”

The two formed the band Blackmore’s Night in 1997. They also officially got married in 2008 after being together for 19 years and share a daughter who was born in 2010 along with a son who was born in 2012.


Another Rocker Was Recently Forced To Cancel Tour For Medical Reasons

British rocker Yungblud recently announced on Saturday, November 15, that he is canceling the rest of his shows in 2025, sharing a lengthy post on his Instagram Story.

“This year has been truly unbelievable and I feel so lucky and honoured from everything that has happened,” he wrote. “This week when I got home off the road and went to have some tests done (like I usually do) and my voice and blood tests have raised some concerns. I have been ordered by my doctor to take a break from touring until the rest of the year.”

“It is in my nature to run and run until I run myself to the ground without giving a (expletive) about anything apart from the music and you guys, but this time I’ve been told I have to take it seriously and I can’t (expletive) around,” he continued. “I’m so sorry to do this. But reluctantly I have to cancel the shows through the end of the year. These include Philadelphia, Cleveland, Washington, Mexico City, and Latin America. My heart is broken.”

But, he also made a promise to fans who were upset that he had to cancel.

“I don’t want do any lasting damage to myself, we are on a journey that I want to last forever. I understand that some of you will be frustrated. I just want you to know that this is so hard for me to do, but I promise I will make it up to you,” Yungblud added. “All US tickets will be refunded. If you sign up with an address at the link I will send you a gift. I never take anyone’s love support or energy for granted. You know you are everything to me. But I need this time. USA I will see you next year. Mexico and latam we are already looking into my own shows down there that will be more affordable for next year too. It’s gonna be unbelievable. I can’t wait.”
