The 68th Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, February 1. The show will air from 8:00-11:30 p.m. ET. It is expected to be an exciting evening packed with entertainment, and to ensure that everything runs smoothly, beloved comedian and late-night host Trevor Noah will be at the helm. But it will be his last time!
Trevor Noah Takes the Lead
GettyThis will be Noah’s sixth time hosting the Grammys, but he initially planned to end his hosting gig after the fifth. “After last year’s show, he respectfully said, ‘Look, I’ve done a great five years, it’s time to hand the microphone off to somebody else and move on,'” executive producer Ben Winston told reporters, Entertainment Weekly reports. Winston admits to begging Noah to come back for one last time.
Winston continued, “I sent him a video, and I was literally, I was on my knees in this video, and I said, ‘Please look at this incredible lineup that we’ve got on the show — the only thing that’s missing is you,'” Winston confessed. “‘Come back and do one final year, it’s the last year on CBS, let’s make it your last year too.'”
Noah texted back, expressing his enthusiasm for hosting the award ceremony one last time. Winston praised Noah’s abilities as a host, saying he is “as excited to be in the middle of that room as we all are to watch it, and I think that’s what makes him the perfect host.” He added, “He’s been a big part of the evolution of our show, of our organization, to be honest, because he presents so well. The gravitas, the sensibility, the emotional intelligence that he has, and his interactions with the artists really has changed the tone and the tenor of our show. So we’re extremely thankful for his five, now going on six shows.”
One Last Time for Trevor Noah
But why is Trevor Noah leaving such a prestigious hosting gig behind? This is not a question the comedian has directly addressed, but the reason is likely that he is focusing his time on other projects. This year, he is nominated for a Grammy Award for his audiobook “Into The Uncut Grass,” Today reports. So, he may get to leave with that, too!
Noah is incredibly well-liked and respected within the entertainment industry and with fans, and there is no doubt that whoever replaces Noah in 2027 will have a tough act to follow. The Grammys are aware they need to find Noah’s replacement. An official announcement on the Grammy Award website shared a statement about their host for the 2026 show.
“Emmy Award-winning, Golden Globe Award-nominated, and Grammy Award-nominated comedian Trevor Noah will return one final time as master of ceremonies of the 2026 Grammy Awards. This will be Noah’s sixth time as host of the Grammy Awards, and he will also serve as an executive producer,” the announcement reads. But for now, we get to enjoy him hosting the Grammy Awards one last time!
