A Netflix show created by television writer and producer Phil Rosenthal — best known for creating “Everybody Loves Raymond” — is moving from the streaming giant to rival company YouTube. As part of a collaboration with Banijay Entertainment, the travel documentary series “Somebody Feed Phil” will make the move to YouTube in 2027 following eight seasons on Netflix.
Phil Rosenthal’s ‘Somebody Feed Phil’ Moving to YouTube in 2027
According to a report by Variety, the next season of the travel series will transfer to YouTube in 2027. The most recent instalment, season 8, was released on Netflix in June 2025.
A spiritual successor to Rosenthal’s earlier series “I’ll Have What Phil’s Having,” “Somebody Feed Phil” follows the host as he travels to different locations in the world to sample local food and meet with the people who make it.
The move comes as part of a deal signed between Rosenthal and Banijay Americas. Content, which include short-form video and full episodes, will be posted to a new Phil Rosenthal World YouTube channel
In a statement released to Variety about the deal, Banijay Americas CEO Ben Samek said, “Phil Rosenthal is one of the rare creators who consistently stays ahead of where the industry is going.”
“Partnering with a filmmaker and storyteller of his caliber is incredibly exciting for us. Alongside Banijay Americas and Banijay Rights, we are proud to support Phil as he ushers his brand into its next era. YouTube represents a natural evolution and a place where audiences can engage with his voice and humor as we build a global digital home for Phil Rosenthal World.”
There’s no word on when new episodes will come to YouTube outside of the broad 2027 date. It is also not clear whether previous seasons will also transfer from Netflix, which includes a total of 49 episodes.
Netflix Cancels Beloved Sci-Fi Series ‘Alice in Borderland’
There have been a number of shakeups at Netflix in recent months, including the cancellation of several high-profile shows. This includes the critically acclaimed “Alice in Borderland.”
The sci-fi series is a live-action adaptation of the manga franchise of the same name, which sees characters battling it out in a “Squid Game”-esque battle royale competition. Set in an alternate version of Tokyo
The show ran for three seasons on Netflix, with the cast of characters fighting against each other in a series of life-or-death games. Although the third season, which was released in 2025, was widely marketed as a conclusion to the story, a post-credits scene did suggest that a spin-off or future successor could be in the works.
That seems to not be the case given that Netflix later described it as the “third and final season” of the show during its What We Watched the Second Half of 2025 article.
