Netflix’s political thriller series “The Night Agent” is returning for a fourth season, with the streaming giant renewing the show. The upcoming batch of episodes will be filmed in Los Angeles, moving the production from New York where seasons two and three were both shot and Canada for the first season.
The renewal comes less than a month after the premiere of the third season on February 19, suggesting that it has performed well enough for Netflix to greenlight the next installment.
‘The Night Agent’ Will Return for a Fourth Season
The news that Netflix has confirmed a fourth season of “The Night Agent” will be welcomed by fans of the series. The streaming company has previously announced renewals of new seasons significantly ahead of season premieres, leaving some fans to speculate that the show could be coming to an end.
However, Deadline reports that Netflix was waiting to see how the third season would be received following the departure of main cast member Luciane Buchanan, who portrayed Rose Larkin in the first two seasons opposite Gabriel Basso’s protagonist Peter Sutherland.
Season 3 was less of a success in terms of viewership compared to its predecessors. It achieved just 8.4 million views in the first week following its debut, down more than five million from the 13.9 million the second season achieved. However, it went on to see a ratings bump in the second week.
“It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents to this point and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4,” series creator Shawn Ryan said in a statement. “Our writers, our cast and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns and thrills.”
