Bijou Phillips was flooded with love as hundreds of people jumped in with hopes of helping the “Almost Famous” actress as she battles kidney failure.
“Over 1,000 potential donors came forward Wednesday after news broke Bijou urgently needs a second kidney transplant,” TMZ reported on Thursday, February 12. “It’s an incredible outpouring of support — but doctors haven’t found a match yet.”
Bijou Phillips Desperately Needs a Kidney Transplant
Phillips shared the devastating news via Instagram on Wednesday, February 11, begging for “a living donor.”
“I need help finding a kidney,” she wrote. “I’m asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt, and, more importantly, a single mother to an incredible and brave daughter. I am in need of a kidney”
She continued, “I was born with underdeveloped kidneys and spent the first three months of life in the NICU on dialysis. In 2017, I received the incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend. That transplant gave me 8 precious years to be a mother to my daughter—but I have had many complications since, including the BK virus which led to both a cellular and antibody rejection.”
Phillips was hospitalized in Los Angeles, and according to TMZ, “it’s touch and go by the minute.”
The outlet revealed the Phillips is B negative blood type and is searching for a donor with B negative, B positive, O negative or O positive blood.
Bijou Phillips Previously Received a Kidney From a Friend
Phillips received the gift of a lifetime from an unnamed friend in 2017.
Following her first transplant, Phillips’ ex-husband Danny Masterson shared a message of gratitude in April 2017.
“My lady has been slowing dying for the past 7 years of an incurable kidney disease. She was given the gift of an encore by a tall angel. Our daughter will have a mother,” he shared on Instagram alongside a photo from her hospital recovery, according to People. “We do not take lightly how incredibly fortunate we are. 100% successful transplant. Now the real work begins for her to silence any chance of rejection. Our deepest gratitude to a perfect transplant team. And a life owed to a tall drink of water. Sláinte!”
Bijou Phillips Receives Support From Friends
According to TMZ, Phillips famous siblings Chynna Phillips and Mackenzie Phillips have been visiting her in the hospital. Daughter Fianna, whom she shares with Masterson, has also been by her side.
“We are sending our prayers love and light. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 We love you, Kathy & Rick,” Kathy Hilton commented on her Instagram post.
Paris Hilton added, “Love you so much sis🥰 Sending you so much love, light, and strength.”
Actress Ashley Benson wrote, “Love you love you. We are all supporting you and you are not alone.”
“Sending you so much love!” Samantha Ronson commented.
