Jane Seymour is one of the most beloved actresses, thanks to roles such as “Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman.” Now, not only is the Hallmark star planning to write a memoir, but she’s also opening up about meeting Hollywood icon John Wayne for the first time.
Jane Seymour Reveals Meeting John Wayne
GettySeymour recently interviewed with PEOPLE and announced that she’s working on her new autobiography. She told the outlet, “I’ve just started writing my autobiography, and I’ve got so many stories and so many extraordinary things that have happened that I keep thinking, ‘How did that actually happen to me?’”
She then discussed her encounter with Wayne. According to her, “I came to Hollywood on an airplane, obviously, and while I was sitting there in first class, the stewardess said, ‘Mr. Wayne would like you to dine with him.’”
She continued, “Who comes to Hollywood as a young actress and actually sits down in a dining area on – not a 747 – but on a big jet to Los Angeles next to John Wayne?”
Regarding what they discussed, she shared, “ I remember him telling stories about school days and then going the next day on the set and watching him literally play that character. That was amazing.”
From there, Seymour revealed that she’s in the process of figuring out what stories to share in her book. The actress continued, “I’m trying to figure out what to do with all the material I can’t put in the book.”
She Remains Busy These Days
Seymour has an enduring legacy thanks to roles in shows and movies like “Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman.” However, she remains in high demand today, often appearing on Hallmark. Per IMDb, she most recently appeared in “The 12 Dates Til Christmas.” Additionally, she starred in the series “Harry Wild.”
The 74-year-old actress recently opened up about her life and legacy in a December 2025 interview with PEOPLE.
She said, “I have to actually wake up in the morning and remind myself how old I am because inside of me, I would say I still feel like I’m maybe about 40 or 50, maybe 40.
I don’t know where all that time went, but I have the energy that I had when I was 40. I work 12-, 14-hour days on sets and keep up with everyone. I don’t need cue cards or anything. I learn page after page, and I have a lot of energy, and I think it’s because I keep working and I keep pushing myself to be better at what it is that I do because I love what I do — I think it keeps me young.”
