Madonna revealed a major career update in an Instagram post September 18, sharing with fans that she’s returning to Warner Records after nearly 20 years.
The singer, known as the “Queen of Pop” shared several photos on Instagram dressed in a pink nightgown and robe with lace detailing, fishnet tights and gold heels to promote her career update.
“Almost 2 decades later – And it Feels like home with Warner Records!” she wrote in the caption. “Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor Back to where it all began!”
Madonna left Warner in 2007 after signing a contract with Live Nation, according to The Guardian. It was believed that Madonna was receiving a $17.5 million cash advance when signing a 10-year deal with the company.
The 67-year-old also teased a sequel to her album Confessions on a Dance Floor, writing, “COADF- P. 2 2026,” in the caption.
History of Confessions on a Dance Floor Album
GettyCOADF was Madonna’s ninth studio album released by Warner Bros in November 2009, featuring songs like Hung Up, which topped charts in 41 countries, Get Together and Future Lovers.
The album won a Grammy award for Best Dance/Electronic Album and an Echo award for Best International Rock/Pop Female Artist.
Madonna described the album as unapologetic, saying it’s “about having a good time straight through and non-stop,” WFMY News reported in 2005.
“Most people equate dance music with being fluffy and superficial; it’s just about having fun,” she said. “That’s fine, but I can’t write 12 songs about nothing. My feelings or point of view inevitably sneaks in.”
Madonna co-wrote and produced the albums with Stuart Price, a British electronic musician, songwriter and record producer. Warner Records said Thursday that the singer will team up once again with Price for the follow up album.
“Upon release, Confessions on a Dance Floor didn’t just deliver multiple hit singles – it ignited the global dance world and redefined dance-pop music once again,” the record label said in a statement. “As a true cultural supernova, Madonna reinforced her unmatched ability to spark both musical revolutions and cultural transformations.”
Madonna ‘Happy’ About Warner Records Return
GettyMadonna revealed in a statement that she’s “happy to be reunited” with Warner Records, who served as her label for the first 25 years of her career.
“From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again and in fact that couldn’t have been truer,” she said.
“Since the beginning Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations,” the singer continued.
“We are honored to welcome Madonna back home to Warner Records. Madonna isn’t just an artist—she’s the blueprint, the rule-breaker, the ultimate cultural juggernaut,” Warner co-chairmen Tom Corson and Aaron Bay-Schuck said in a statement. “This signing represents a historic, full circle moment, one that brings her back to the label where it all began and reaffirms her unparalleled influence, setting the stage for an exciting new era of creativity and impact.”
An exact release date for the new album has not yet been revealed but Warner and Madonna said her first studio album in seven years will come out in 2026.
