A white tent was set up at the front entrance of Nancy Guthrie’s Tuscon home, shielding the front door from view of those nearby. However, it was only up for an hour before authorities took it down.
So, what was the reason for this?
Former FBI Agent Provides New Details On Mysterious White Tent
Former FBI Special Agent and Crisis Negotiator Jason Pack spoke with the Daily Mail and said that the reason for the tent was to conceal any potential evidence from anyone near the property, specifically in reference to reporters.
“That tent was set up to shield evidence collection from public view and the media cameras that have been trained on that house for nearly two weeks,” Pack told the outlet. “They don’t want a suspect or anyone connected to the case watching live coverage and seeing exactly what investigators are focused on.”
“They also don’t want speculation about what they’re collecting to get ahead of the investigation,” he added.
He also provided some insight into what authorities might have been doing, saying that police might have “received new information through a tip or through forensic video review and enhancement that directed them back to a specific area of interest in the porch.” Pack further detailed that they could have been “taking precise measurements of the archway, the bricks, the stones and other fixed structures on that porch,” because that could help them “calculate an accurate height estimation on the suspect seen in the doorbell footage.”
‘Several Items of Evidence’ Discovered By Cops According to New Report
According to Page Six, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department revealed that it has “recovered several items of evidence,” including a black glove found on Wednesday. It is being “submitted for analysis … as part of the investigative process.”
Specifically with the glove, it was found after camera footage was released of a suspect at Nancy’s home wearing black gloves, a ski mask, a backpack, and carrying a weapon. They discovered it approximately a mile and a half from Nancy’s house, per The New York Post. CNN further added that the evidence recovered has included “multiple gloves,” but it’s “unclear whether authorities believe they were worn by the person in the doorbell footage.”
Nancy was last seen the night of Jan. 31 after spending time with her family. She was then reported missing on Feb. 1 when she didn’t show up for plans with friends. In the 12-day search, new information continues to come out, but the 84-year-old remains missing.
