Sheriff Reveals Latest Case Speculation & Updates in New Interview as Nancy Guthrie Search Enters Week 2

Heartbreak and hope are present in equal parts in the hearts of the people of Tucson, Arizona. Nancy Guthrie has now been missing for 13 days, and the questions surrounding her disappearance continue to mount. The beautiful Tucson home where the 84-year-old mom of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie once lived has sadly turned into the epicenter of an active criminal investigation.

What was once a quiet neighborhood setting is now filled with cameras, deputies, press, and constant activity. As the search moves into its second week, new developments are unfolding outside the property. With more questions and search updates, the case’s urgency has brought fresh heartbreak to those waiting for answers.

Amid the chaos and gruelling investigation, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared new updates on where the investigation stands in a new interview.

‘Nobody Is Ever Really Eliminated’

In a new interview with Fox News correspondent Matt Finn, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos was asked whether anyone has been ruled out as a suspect or person of interest.

“Nobody is ever really eliminated,” Nanos replied.

When pressed about rumors circulating online that someone within the family could be involved, Nanos pushed back strongly.

“The family has been fully, 100% completely, whatever we asked for, they’ve done,” he said, as per Finn.

“It was getting crazy out there with allegations about the family,” he continued, adding, “You can’t accuse people of a horrific crime like that and not have any facts behind it.”

Finn noted that moments earlier, Nanos had said that “nobody” had been cleared, highlighting the tension between procedure and public speculation.

Evidence, DNA Testing, and FBI Coordination

An FBI agent surveils the area around Nancy Guthrie’s residence on February 11, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona.

As the investigation continues, Nanos confirmed that several gloves were found across a wide area around Nancy’s home.

He said his office is working closely with the FBI to test the gloves and other collected evidence for DNA. Nanos also addressed a Reuters report that suggested tension between local and federal authorities over where evidence should be analyzed.

When asked about that report, Nanos said it is “not even close to the truth” that the agencies are in disagreement.

He explained that his department turns over evidence to the FBI for testing and then receives the findings once the analysis is complete.

The same process, he said, is being followed for the alleged ransom notes sent to media outlets.

Nanos also shared that investigators have taken cheek swabs from “different individuals we’ve talked to along the way,” meaning DNA samples are being collected from people interviewed in the case.

Authorities have not publicly named any suspects or persons of interest.

Meanwhile, the FBI has doubled the reward to $100,000 for information that leads to Nancy’s return. Federal agents continue to release identifying details about the masked man captured in doorbell footage outside her home.

Newly Surfaced Ring Video Under Review as Possible Lead in Nancy Guthrie Investigation

The investigators are reviewing newly surfaced doorbell footage that could represent another potential lead. TMZ reported on 13th February that the new clip, originally shared on January 23 on Ring’s Neighbors app, shows a dark-haired man with facial hair approaching a home roughly 6.5 miles from Guthrie’s residence around 5 a.m.

In the video, the man appears to be backing toward the front door, seemingly trying to avoid being seen clearly. A partial image is still captured when he rings the bell. The homeowner later said the man ran off after the dogs inside began barking.

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources say investigators are “absolutely” examining the footage, though officials have not confirmed any direct link to Guthrie’s disappearance.

Both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are aware of the video and continue to analyze it as part of the ongoing investigation.

While this story continues to unfold, Tucson is still waiting to welcome Nancy Guthrie back home safely and securely.
