Nancy Guthrie Search: Private Investigator Suggests ‘More Logical Place’ to Look for Her

A private investigator is offering new insight into the Nancy Guthrie case as the search stretches into its third week.

Bill Garcia, a veteran private investigator with more than 35 years of experience, said he has been closely monitoring the case, particularly in light of reports suggesting Nancy may have been taken to Mexico.

Garcia told Border Report that he does not believe Nancy was taken to Mexico, citing the heavy surveillance and law enforcement presence between Tucson and the southern border.

Nancy Guthrie’s neighbors set up a memorial in front of her home.

“They would have to choose a location that’s safe and where they’re less likely to be caught in the act,” Garcia told the outlet. “That’s why I suspect she would be somewhat north of Tucson in that hundred-to-130-mile area between Tucson and outside of Phoenix and Mesa, Arizona. To me, that would be a more logical place to look for Nancy.”

Private Investigator Believes Cartel is Involved

Garcia also believes that Nancy Guthrie may have been abducted by a cartel.

“That particular area of Arizona is a high drug and money transporting area,” he told Border Report. “It has deepened my belief that this is in some way related to a money-making venture by people involved with a cartel.”

The private investigator further explained that the big “giveaway” is the masked man in the surveillance footage outside of Nancy’s home.

“The person doesn’t appear to be very sophisticated; he does things a professional would not do,” Garcia pointed out. “For instance, the way he approaches the camera … why would he pick up some shrubbery as it didn’t effectively cover up the camera?”

Garcia observed that the man in the video appeared to be a “low-level associate” based on his appearance and mannerisms.

“If Nancy did come to the front door and contacted this person, I suspect there may be some type of struggle, most likely after the camera was removed,” he added.

On Wednesday, TMZ reported that the FBI had contacted Mexican authorities to inform various police agencies about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Authorities reportedly believe Nancy may have been taken across the border, though not immediately after the abduction. Detectives examined border patrol cameras and other electronic devices, but no sign of her was found, the outlet said.

Meanwhile, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told the BBC on Wednesday that he believes Nancy is still in the Tucson area.
