A new development has emerged in the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie as authorities confirm they are now examining a suspicious trespassing incident that occurred near her Arizona home weeks before she was reported missing, according to TMZ.
TMZ Spoke With the Homeowner
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, a report involving an unknown man seen lurking in a residential yard in early January has been forwarded to the investigative unit handling Nancy’s case to determine whether the incident could be connected to her alleged kidnapping.
The trespassing occurred at a home located less than 10 minutes from Nancy Guthrie’s residence in Tucson.
TMZ spoke directly with the elderly homeowner who reported the incident.
The man said he became aware of the trespasser after a motion sensor was triggered, causing a floodlight to turn on in his yard.
The sudden illumination appeared to startle the individual, who immediately fled the property on foot before the homeowner could get a clear look at his face.
The homeowner told TMZ that there was no attempt to break into his house, and nothing was stolen from the yard.
Despite the lack of theft or forced entry, the presence of an unknown person loitering on the property was reported to authorities at the time.
Law Enforcement Continues to Search
Law enforcement has now revisited the case as part of the broader effort to locate Nancy Guthrie.
The 84-year-old mother of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie was officially reported missing on Sunday, after family members grew concerned when she failed to attend her regular church service, something they described as highly uncharacteristic.
Authorities later indicated they believe she may have been taken from her home, and the case is being treated as a possible kidnapping.
Law enforcement continues to ask anyone in the Tucson area who may have seen unusual activity, unfamiliar individuals, or suspicious behavior in early January or around the time of Nancy’s disappearance to come forward with information.
Nancy’s neighbors have been speaking out after she went missing.
“She is very sweet,” one neighbor said in regard to Nancy. “The first time I went over and introduced myself to her she just welcomed me in.”
Others expressed how the community is in shock after the tragic incident.
As the investigation continues, officials stress that every lead — even those that initially appeared unrelated — is being carefully examined in the hope of bringing Nancy Guthrie home safely.

Hope and pray, she finds her mother, God help all the agencies involved, amen
