Offset on ‘Baby, This Is Keke Palmer’: Fatherhood, Fame & Relationship With Cardi B

Hip-hop star Offset, known for his chart-topping hits and headline-making personal life, sat down with Keke Palmer on the October 7 episode of her podcast “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” for an open and emotional conversation that fans didn’t see coming.

The rapper, who rose to fame as one-third of Migos, shared rare insight into his growth as an artist, husband, and father—while reflecting on the pain, pressure, and perseverance that shaped his journey.

Offset didn’t hold back. From walking away from Migos to dealing with loss, addiction, and love, his tone was raw and reflective. “It felt special the whole time,” he said about his early grind with Migos. “’Fight Night‘ was the first song that made me take it serious and believe we could really make it.”

Honoring Takeoff & Moving Forward

Offset’s honesty about Migos’ disbandment in 2023 carried both pride and pain. “It was just a decision I had to make as a man,” he told Palmer, emphasizing that his choice came from growth, not ego. When asked if a reunion could ever happen, his answer was heartfelt but final. “I don’t want to go backwards. It wouldn’t be the same without Takeoff—he was the glue.”

Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston in 2022.

He reflected on their Billboard No. 1 hit “Bad and Boujee,” describing that moment as when the dream officially became a job. “When we got that number one hit, it became my job,” he said, noting how the group’s unique sound came from a “science formula” of rhythm and chemistry they built together.

Overcoming Addiction & Breaking Cycles

Offset’s most emotional moments came when he spoke about overcoming addiction. He revealed he’s been “four years strong” since quitting codeine, crediting fatherhood for saving him. “What killed me was when my son asked for pineapple soda because he saw me drinking it,” he said. “Then he asked, ‘yours a different color than mine… why?’ That broke me.”

He admitted that it took family, accountability, and faith to change course. “My mom was coming at me, my people were worried. I’m glad I have solid people around me to tell me when I’m trippin,” he shared. “Sometimes you think you can’t make hits without the drugs—but that’s cap.”

Love, Regret & The End of a Chapter

Naturally, Keke Palmer didn’t shy away from asking about his marriage to Cardi B. Offset confirmed the two are moving toward divorce and said plainly, “I’m ready for it to be over so we can move on.”

He didn’t hide from his mistakes either. “Two of us being superstars—your business is always out,” he admitted. “I was definitely not perfect”. When Palmer softly asked if he wished he did anything differently, Offset paused and responded, “I wish I respected her more… You live and you learn”.

Offset also addressed rumors about being romantically involved with West Coast rapper Saweetie—who once dated his Migos bandmate Quavo—calling those claims false. “That’s not true,” he said firmly, clarifying that the gossip only added unnecessary tension to an already fragile situation.

Fatherhood, Legacy & New Beginnings

Now signed as a solo artist to Capitol Records and Motown, Offset is focused on his next chapter. The father of six says he’s officially done having children. “The legacy has been made,” he said confidently.

Keke Palmer, a new mom herself, got a bit of parenting advice from the rapper. “You gotta be tough… shouldn’t baby him”, Offset told her with a laugh, recalling how his mother—who raised him and two siblings alone—“didn’t play”. He shared how having his first child at 17 forced him to grow up fast. “I was in survival mode.” Coming from a fatherless childhood he emphasized his determination to be a provider. “I didn’t want to be a deadbeat… but I just didn’t go about it the right way”, he admitted.

Despite his trials, Offset’s interview on “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” painted the picture of a man learning to balance fame with fatherhood, success with self-awareness, and pain with purpose. His reflections remind fans that beyond the luxury and limelight, real growth comes from facing yourself—and choosing to evolve.
