Adrien Brody has had an incredible career, including two Academy Award wins for Best Actor for his roles in “The Pianist” and “The Brutalist.” He is in demand, but he can also go relatively unnoticed in public, it seems, as the actor was photographed riding the subway in New York City with a friend on Monday, August 31.

In photos of Brody, obtained by Page Six, he is dressed in casual attire, including black pants, a black T-shirt, and a black baseball cap. He appeared to have a sweater tied around his body. This is not the first time the actor has been seen in the city, with Page Six reporting that since making his Broadway debut in the role of Nick Yarris in “The Fear of 13,” he had been “spotted often around the city over the past few months.”
Brody’s performance ran from April 15 to June 28.
Brody is from New York City, and taking public transport is nothing new for him. “I grew up in New York City; I grew up in Queens; I took the train all the time,” he told NPR in February 2025. “I had to take four trains each way to go to drama school, I got accepted to Performing Arts, and it was a public school. But it gave me a wonderful foundation early on.”

Although he tries to keep his relationship out of the limelight, he has shared a few details about their coupling, notably in a February 2025 interview with Variety.
“We got photographed leaving the plane here,” he said. “We get photographed leaving the hotel; we get photographed every minute.” He understands the public interest in his relationship and gives a glimpse into their home life. “We have a number of pets,” he said. “My girlfriend has a whole menagerie of animals. We have four cats and a dog and donkeys and miniature horses. And we have a whole lot of animals around here. We did have a rat for a while that didn’t make it. It was a very sweet one.” They named their rat Dumbo because of its big ears.
In the interview, Brody also praised Chapman, saying, “I greatly appreciate having a partner with a similar sensibility and understanding of the creative process, of creative yearnings, and not in the same field. And so there’s a [shared] perspective that’s very intuitive. It’s been lovely to have a friend and a confidant, and someone with good instincts.”

When asked what he gains from the commitments he makes, he replied, “I don’t have an option! That’s the best way I could put it to you. I don’t do it to indulge my soul. It’s just that I apply all my energy into my work like a mad artist. I just do it because it’s really part of the process, like I couldn’t show up and walk through something.”
He added, “You would be hard-pressed to find something that I’ve done that is simply that. That’s the best way I could define it.”
