Savannah Guthrie took a well-deserved moment of joy to celebrate the 12th birthday of her daughter Vale on the morning of Thursday, August 13. Guthrie shared a set of three snaps on Instagram from the day Vale was born, writing in the caption, “On this day, 12 years ago. I will never forget this joy. Happy birthday to my dearest Vale, growing up so beautiful, kind, soulful and wise. I thank God for you every day.”
Hillary Scott of the country band Lady A, formerly Lady Antebellum, hit the comments to share a wish for Vale. She wrote, “What a precious baby and a gifted, dynamic and incredible 12 year old!!! HBD Vale!!!!”

Savannah Guthrie Shares Two Children With Her Husband Michael Feldman
GettyGuthrie married PR and communications consultant Michael Feldman in March 2014. The small ceremony was held in Tucson, Arizona, according to People. The outlet says Guthrie first met Feldman at his 40th birthday party in 2008, shortly after her divorce from fellow journalist Mark Orchard, whom she married in 2005.
She briefly addressed her divorce in a July 2025 appearance on the podcast “Reclaiming With Monica Lewinsky,” saying, “It was horrible and sad, and it broke my heart, and it took me years to recover.” She added that she didn’t wish to discuss the breakup in detail, and her preference for staying away from the topic played into her decision not to get into “the gory details” of the split in her book.
Feldman and Guthrie welcomed Vale, their oldest child, on August 13, 2014, and their son Charley followed a little over two years later on December 8, 2016.
In a 2024 People exclusive, Guthrie, who was 42 when she welcomed Vale, revealed to the mag that she had “given up hope” of becoming a mom before being blessed with her two children.
“I got to have babies long past the time that anyone would really be hopeful, I had long given up hope,” she reflected, adding, “My life has been so surprising and wonderful, because there were times when I didn’t think there was much hope for me.”
In her 2024 memoir “Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere,” the longtime NBC personality opened up about her previous struggle with infertility. She wrote that she experienced a miscarriage and went through multiple rounds of IVF before finally getting pregnant.

Guthrie has taken to periodically making social media videos pleading for information and sharing her family’s feelings of heartbreak and despair, and her latest clip came on July 27. In it, she said, “It has been months since our mom has been taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end.”
The 54-year-old continued, “Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part and we will never stop looking for her. We will always ache for her and feel that hole in our hearts.
She then seemed to address the culprit directly, saying, “The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way. So I’m asking you, begging you to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do that right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end.”
