“Ghosts” is officially returning for Season 6, though fans will have to wait a bit longer than usual for the new season to arrive.
CBS previously renewed the hit comedy, which reportedly already began filming last month.
Previously, the network unveiled its official fall 2026 lineup, confirming that “Ghosts” would not return to its usual time slot this fall. Instead, the beloved series has been moved to midseason, though CBS has yet to announce an exact premiere date.
CBS Series ‘Ghosts’ Gets Holiday Specials
CBSWhile “Ghosts” Season 6 has been shifted to a midseason schedule, the series has been confirmed to return with two holiday specials later this year.
In July, showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman teased some details of the new season and the two hour-long specials at San Diego Comic-Con, per Deadline.
“In the Halloween special, which is our first ever hour-long, we’re gonna meet Hetty’s sister, her mustachioed sister Margaret, who’s been referenced several times in the show,” Wiseman revealed. “She’s gonna be a type of ghost that we have never seen.”
As for the Christmas special, Port teased that “it’s inspired by what we think would be one of Jay and probably Trevor’s favorite movies, ‘Die Hard.'”
The “Ghosts” Halloween special is set to air on October 9, while the Christmas episode is scheduled for December 10.
‘Ghosts’ Cast Shakeup
CBSMeanwhile, fans can also expect some changes to the “Ghosts” cast lineup.
The series’ longtime stars are returning, while a recurring actor has been promoted to series regular for the new season, according to Deadline.
Ben Feldman, who has guest starred as Kyle on the past two seasons, has been upped to series regular.
“We’re so excited to have Ben on Ghosts this season,” Port and Wiseman told the outlet. “He’s a truly gifted actor that is equally adept at comedy and emotion, and he’s an incredible addition to an already stacked cast.”
CBSMeanwhile, Betsy Sodaro, who plays basement ghost Nancy, appeared to tease a possible return to “Ghosts” Season 6, per TV Insider.
The outlet noted that the actress seemed to post on her Instagram Stories from Canada as Season 6 filming began.
In Season 5, Kyle and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) joined Pete (Richie Moriarty) on a trip to London to uncover Nancy’s (Betsy Sodaro) family lineage. Pete vanished before they returned, leaving his fate uncertain.
