Savannah Guthrie Plans ‘Today’ Return as Search for Missing Mother Continues

Savannah Guthrie is planning to return to the “Today” show — but for now, the longtime anchor remains focused on her family as the search continues for her missing mother.

According to a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Guthrie recently made a brief appearance at NBC’s Studio 1A in New York City.

Guthrie Has Been Focused on Her Family

It marked the first time she had returned to the studio since stepping away from the show following her mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in early February.

“Savannah stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues,” a spokesperson for the program said in the statement. “While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”

Guthrie, 54, has been largely absent from the morning program since Nancy was reported missing.

Her mother was last seen late on the night of Jan. 31 at her home in Tucson, Arizona.

The Search for Nancy Continues

Authorities continue to search for Nancy, as she has now been missing for over a month.

There is currently a $1 million for any information about her disappearance.

The family has endured multiple alleged ransom notes since Nancy’s disappearance.

Since then, Guthrie has spent significant time in Arizona with her siblings, Annie Guthrie and her brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni, as they work with investigators and urge the public to help locate their mother.

Earlier this week, Guthrie was seen visiting her mother’s Tucson property alongside her sister and brother-in-law.

Video showed the family embracing one another while standing near a tribute that had formed outside Nancy’s mailbox.

The memorial included flowers and messages of support left by neighbors and members of the community.

After the visit, Guthrie shared a photo on social media showing the growing display of bouquets surrounding the mailbox.

In the caption, she expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support.

“We feel the love and prayers from our neighbors, from the Tucson community and from around the country,” she wrote. “Please don’t stop praying and hoping with us. bring her home.”

Guthrie has repeatedly used her social media platforms to plead for help and keep attention on the search for Nancy.

While the beloved anchor has been away from the broadcast, her former colleague Hoda Kotb has stepped in to help fill the role at the desk.
