‘Real Housewives’ Alum Files for Divorce & Hopes to Remain Friends With Her Ex

Brit Eady, who appeared on season 16 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” recently announced plans to divorce her husband, Michael Cunningham. Now, the former Bravo star has gone through with the legal filing. This comes after they tied the knot in 2020.

According to The Daily Mail, Eady filed for divorce in a Georgia court on January 7. She told the outlet, “At the end of the day, I still love Mike, and I hope that what we are going thru can still allow us to be friends.”

The former RHOA star said in court documents that there was no chance of fixing their broken union. She also requested that the court not allow him to receive alimony or spousal support. The couple has no children together and plans to sell their Fulton County, Georgia, home amid the divorce.

Eady had a major 2025 due to her appearance on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” However, she ended things by bravely opening up about her split from Cunningham and her need for peace. According to PEOPLE, the former Bravo star announced the news on Instagram on December 31.

She said, “I’m posting this on the last day of 365 to remove this facade of faking like this marriage is going to work. Everybody can’t come into the next chapter. I’m done hurting and I want to be happy in my next chapter.

Cheers to 2026 of putting my happiness first 🥂 ✌🏽 (And for the record, as much as I can’t stand him, we are not going to create a false narrative that I’m walking away because of any fake made-up rumors).”

She also wrote about “disrespect” and how it “triggers my toxicity.” Cunningham also issued a statement to PEOPLE. He said, “All marriages have ups and downs, we just happen to go through things publicly. I’ve always had the upmost respect for my wife and our union. In spite of some of our issues being brought to the public, I will not feed into into the drama and narratives being painted.”

She Also Announced Her Exit from RHOA in 2025

Season 16 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” premiered on Bravo in March 2025, serving as a soft reboot for the show. However, Brit became embroiled in unsavory drama with longtime cast member Kenya Moore, leading to Moore’s dismissal from the show.

Additionally, Eady elected not to attend the reunion taping for the show and later announced her exit. Per PEOPLE, she said at the time. I want to thank everyone who supported me, my friends, my followers, my amazing team, and everyone who defended my name.

I decided to walk away from something that no longer serves me because I choose peace over destroying my mental [health].It’s very easy to say what I should have done, when most have not walked a day in my shoes.”
