Kathy Hilton Reveals Who Was on the Other End of Her Reunion Calls

Kathy Hilton is finally explaining the phone calls that caught viewers’ attention during the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” reunion.

During the reunion episodes, fans quickly noticed Kathy repeatedly checking and answering her phone while seated onstage with the cast. The moments sparked conversation online, with viewers trying to figure out who kept calling her in the middle of the reunion taping, especially since cast members are generally expected to stay off their phones while filming.

Now, Kathy is revealing exactly who was on the other end of those calls.

In an interview with Vulture, Kathy explained that she was dealing with constant calls and messages because the reunion happened to fall on her birthday. She also revealed that one of the people calling her was sister Kim Richards.

“It was my birthday, and my phone was blowing up, blowing up, blowing up, blowing up,” Kathy said. “And it was getting late, and we were supposed to drive down to the desert … So it was my husband, and it kept beeping. And without my glasses, I couldn’t [see the screen well], so I just [picked up and] was like, ‘I can’t talk.’”

The revelation comes after Kathy generated attention throughout the reunion for her commentary on cast dynamics, editing, and some of the season’s biggest moments.

Kathy also addressed the long-running fan conversation surrounding her famous “Hunky Dory” moment with Sutton Stracke, insisting viewers misunderstood the context behind it.

“You have to realize things are edited. I know who ‘Hunky-Dory’ is. Okay?” Kathy said. “I’ve said it a million times: It was just to get Sutton out of her rut and her bad mood, and I thought she would laugh at me. That didn’t happen. And all the girls’ reactions at the table were funny. So that was not your question, but I want to get that across.”

Kathy Hilton Also Addressed Misconceptions About Her

Elsewhere in the interview, Kathy pushed back on the idea that the show is heavily manufactured behind the scenes.

“I will tell you one thing, though. I know this much: These girls are exactly the same [off camera], and they end up loving each other. They’re not phonies,” she said. “People think, Oh, things are manufactured. … [but] nobody is whispering in our ear telling us what to do or say.”

Kathy also spoke about where things currently stand with sister Kyle Richards after another emotional season for the family.

“It’s actually been really good, but we don’t get to spend enough time together. It’s more fun when we’re working together.”

She additionally addressed claims that people within the Bravo world are intimidated by her influence.

“That’s the biggest misconception. People are afraid of me,” Kathy said. “For what? I mean, NBCUniversal, Bravo, Evolution, Andy Cohen — they are huge. They’re big. They’re big players. Nobody owns them and tells them what to do, and they’ve got more power than just about anyone.”

The comments come as fans continue dissecting the RHOBH reunion and speculating about what could be next for the cast heading into another season.
