Teddi Mellencamp Gets Candid About Cancer Treatment Side Effects

Teddi Mellencamp is continuing to speak openly about her ongoing cancer journey, including some of the unexpected realities that have come with treatment.

During a recent episode of the “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast with guest Dolores Catania, Mellencamp shared that steroid-related weight gain recently led her to ask her doctor about taking GLP-1 medication.

“I am a health and wellness coach who’s dying of cancer,” the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star said while laughing. “And because I gained weight from the steroids, because I’m getting bigger from the steroids, I asked my doctor if I could please have GLP 1s. And he was like, ‘No!’”

Catania quickly reacted to the story, telling Mellencamp, “I’m so sorry someone told you no, but I don’t know that I’d listen!”

The conversation blended humor with vulnerability as Mellencamp continued opening up about navigating treatment and the emotional toll that comes with it.

Dolores Catania Encouraged Teddi Mellencamp to ‘Do What You Want’

As the discussion continued, Catania admitted she had received a similar answer from doctors herself.

“I was told no too,” she said. “Doesn’t mean I’m not gonna do it.”

Mellencamp then joked that she could probably still find a way to access the medication if she really wanted to.

“I mean, I know people where I could get it,” Mellencamp admitted. “I have friends that do it.”

“Listen, let me enjoy my time!” she added with a laugh.

Catania encouraged her to join her own GLP-1 journey, saying, “Well, I’m taking it tomorrow if you wanna start with me. Do what you want, Teddi.”

The conversation later took another emotional turn when Catania suggested Mellencamp’s doctor refusing the medication may actually have been reassuring.

“I don’t think you’re dying, because I think he would have said, ‘Just go do it,’” Catania explained. “He’s telling you, ‘No.’”

Mellencamp jokingly fired back, “So rude! Let me live. You tell me to live my best life, but I don’t even get… Live your best life? Where are my GLP 1s?”
