It has been a rough year for unscripted television. As networks and streaming platforms lock in their fall schedules, a growing number of reality series are not making the cut. Some endings were planned. Others came as a surprise. A few were pulled under circumstances no one saw coming.

‘Queer Eye’ Said Goodbye After 10 Seasons on Netflix
Netflix confirmed in July 2025 that Season 10 of “Queer Eye” would be its last. The farewell season, set in Washington, D.C., premiered in January 2026, closing the book on Netflix’s longest-running unscripted series.
Tan France marked the moment on Instagram after the announcement came through.
“First day of the FINAL season of ‘Queer Eye.’ It’s been a long, beautiful journey we’ve been on, and I truly appreciate all of the love and support for our little show, that changed my life in ways I never thought possible,” he wrote.
The Fab Five signed off after more than a decade of makeovers, emotional breakthroughs, and episodes that regularly left viewers in tears.
NBC Pulled the Plug on Two Reality Series in the Same Year
‘On Brand with Jimmy Fallon’
NBCJimmy Fallon and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Bozoma “Boz” Saint John launched a marketing competition series on NBC in September 2025.
The show followed Fallon as he built out a creative agency, pitting everyday people against one another for a shot at the top.
NBC“With ‘On Brand,’ I thought it would be cool to have executives from some of the most iconic brands pitched ideas by normal people bursting with creativity,” Fallon told People in May 2025.
“Some have advertising backgrounds. Some are influencers. Some are swim instructors. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is coming up with the best idea.”
NBCIt was not enough to earn a second season. In May 2026, Deadline confirmed the series had been canceled after one season.
‘Yes, Chef!’
NBCMartha Stewart and José Andrés co-hosted this cooking competition, which gave 12 talented home cooks the chance to compete for a $250,000 prize.
The series premiered in April 2025 and wrapped its finale in June of that year.
NBCNBC canceled “Yes, Chef!” after just one season, Deadline confirmed in March 2026.
‘Rehab Addict’ Canceled After Controversial Video Surfaces
Warner Bros. DiscoveryHGTV’s long-running renovation series “Rehab Addict“ came to an abrupt end in February 2026 after a controversial video featuring star Nicole Curtis surfaced during filming.
HGTV responded swiftly, pulling the show from all platforms.
“Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV,” the network said in a statement, as published by People in February 2026.
“We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”Curtis issued a public apology in a statement to TMZ on February 11. “I apologize to everyone,” she said.
Fan Favorites ‘Basketball Wives,’ ‘Love & Hip Hop’ and More Are Signing Off
‘Basketball Wives’
After 12 seasons and 15 years on the air, “Basketball Wives” wrapped its final season between May and July 2025. Series creator Shaunie Henderson broke the news in a January 2026 Instagram video.
“This is just called growth and moving forward. I’m announcing today that ‘Basketball Wives’ will not be returning,” she said.
“Since its launch in 2010, this franchise has been the defining part of my professional journey. What began as a vision to tell my story and stories of women like me grew into a cultural movement that created opportunity, sparked conversation and honestly, amplified voices that deserve to be heard.”
She closed with a message to fans. “‘Basketball Wives’ will always be a cherished part of my legacy and a foundation of my career as a producer. Thank you for your support from day one, and I look forward to this next season of leadership, creativity and expansion and sharing it with you.”
‘Love & Hip Hop’
ParamountThe “Love & Hip Hop” franchise is wrapping with a six-part farewell series titled “Love & Hip Hop: The Final Chapter,” set to air on VH1 in fall 2026.
“‘Love & Hip Hop’ has been a part of the fabric of VH1 and of the culture for over 15 years. This limited series is our love letter to the cast, fans, producers, and everyone who made the franchise a success and forever changed reality television,” said Sitarah Pendelton, executive vice president of unscripted at MTVE, as per the official press release by Paramount.
‘Selling the City’
Netflix’s real estate series launched in January 2025 but will not return for a second season. TMZ reported the cancellation in April 2026.
Cast member Eleonora Srugo responded with grace. “Getting to work with Adam DiVello and Netflix was a dream, and even more so to showcase my city and the industry I love,” she told People in an interview published on 15 April.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the people around the world who connected with it. I’m proud to be part of the ‘Selling’ franchise. That’s something that doesn’t change and excited to see what’s next.”
‘Pop the Balloon’
Hosted by Yvonne Orji, this live experimental dating show premiered on Netflix in April 2025. Deadline reported in February 2026 that it would not be returning for a second season.
‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’
People reported on March 4 that the iconic franchise is taking its final bow. The ninth and last season of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” debuted in May 2026, with MTV describing the 18-episode run as a “last hurrah for a cultural icon.”
The original “Jersey Shore” first premiered in 2009, launching the cast into a cultural phenomenon that lasted nearly two decades.
