“All My Children” alum Michael B. Jordan is now an Academy Award winner, and his former co-star is gushing over the exciting news. Soap icon Susan Lucci issued a heartfelt message to Jordan following his big win.
Susan Lucci’s Heartfelt Words for Michael B. Jordan
Jordan won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as twins Smoke and Stack in the movie “Sinners”. Lucci couldn’t be prouder of her former on-screen stepson, and she let him know it.
In an Instagram post, Lucci shared a throwback photo of her as Erica Kane, Jordan as Reggie Montgomery, and soap vet Walt Wiley as Jackson Montgomery. The picture was from Jack and Erica’s wedding, which Reggie played a role in.
“Congratulations @michaelbjordan on your Oscar! I watched last night and was so excited to see you win!! AND what a beautiful, gracious, and authentic acceptance speech you gave. So proud to have worked with Michael on AMC!!! What a spectacular actor he is!!!👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉❤️,” Lucci shared as her caption.
Jordan played Reggie on the now canceleld ABC soap from 2003 to 2006.
This isn’t the first time Lucci has gushed over Jordan. During an appearance on “Beverly Hills 90210” star Jennie Garth’s podcast, “I Choose Me,” Lucci sang Jordan’s praises.
“Michael B. Jordan was 16 when he began on “All My Children”. I would just tell you, he was always so wonderful to work with. He was prepared, he was on time, he was committed, he was sweet, he was respectful to everyone around him,” she stated.
Lucci made it clear Jordan wasn’t a phony either; he was the real deal. The soap icon wanted it to be known that Jordan was “authentically” and “genuinely” a great young man when they worked together.
Michael B. Jordan Credits ‘All My Children’ for Shaping His Career
The “Friday Night Lights” alum has more than once revealed that his time in the soap world helped form his Hollywood success. Jordan declared that working on “All My Children” taught him so much about the craft, especially when he was doing 100 pages of dialogue a day.
Since he never went to acting school, working on soap as a teen was his school. It was the best training for a young actor and certainly shaped his acting skills. Jordan often credits Lucci, Wiley, and Darnell Williams for being his mentors during that time.
Following his Oscar win, Jordan chatted with fellow “All My Children” alums Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Ripa asked whether working on the soap helped prepare him to play twins in “Sinners.”
“Without a doubt. No, I’m not even trying to be funny. I think the work ethic of soap operas is so underrated and overlooked,” Jordan expressed.
