Rizo Velovic Says Jury Didn’t Welcome Him After ‘Survivor 50’ Exit

Rizo Velovic may have made it all the way to the final four on “Survivor 50,” but his arrival at Ponderosa was far from the hero’s welcome he expected. After losing the fire-making challenge to Jonathan Young, the self-proclaimed “RizGod” revealed that none of the jurors were there to greet him when he arrived. He described it as a “very cold reception” following an emotional elimination from the game. Get all the details below in our “Survivor” spoilers.

No Love For RizGod

During the “Survivor 50” finale, Rizo found himself having to make fire to make it to the Final 3. He had to do it in “Survivor 49,” and was picked to do it again for “Survivor 50.”

Despite Joe Hunter giving him pointers on how to start a fire quickly, when the fire-making challenge was held, Jonathan dominated, and Rizo fell short again.

So, after losing out on another fire-making challenge, Rizo found himself heading to Ponderosa to be with the other jury members. He was emotional after another big defeat, so did he get some love from the other jury members?

Not at all! Rizo told Entertainment Weekly, “So it’s funny. The jurors say they weren’t alerted about me coming. Nobody was there to welcome me with open arms. It was a very cold reception.”

However, it sounds like they were eventually alerted and made up for it.

Rizo added, “And then everybody was like, ‘Wait, Rizo’s here? What the heck? Let’s go show him some love?’ So they did a good job bouncing back, but my reception at Ponderosa was very, very quiet. Nobody was there to welcome the RizGod, so it was kind of sad.”

A ‘What if’ Moment for Rizo on ‘Survivor 50’

Entertainment Weekly decided to play the “what if” game with Rizo. Let’s say he did win that fire-making challenge and took out Jonathan instead of being eliminated. Rizo is in the Final 3. What happens then?

Rizo said, “Honestly, I maybe get one vote for sympathy to get second place. I don’t think I had any shot at Aubry. And not that I don’t think I have a very good case. I just feel like some of the jury, whether they believed the moves I was making were truly my moves or they just didn’t like me for whatever reason — they thought my work ethic was terrible, or they thought that I didn’t deserve it because I was the new kid on the block — I felt my best shot at winning this game was against Joe and Jonathan. And once Aubry won, I didn’t feel like I had a winning chance. But I would say maybe I get one vote.”

His Final Vote

As a member of the jury, we saw that Rizo voted for Aubry to win. However, it looks like he went into Ponderosa thinking he would vote for Joe, with whom he had a tight relationship on the show.

However, Rizo said, “When I came to Ponderosa and heard the votes were between Jonathan and Aubry, I felt like giving Joe one vote when a possibly very close vote could happen, I didn’t wanna do that. So I shifted my perspective to who, between Aubry and Jonathan, I felt played the best game. And I just felt at that moment, Aubry did.”

What did you think of Rizo’s gameplay on “Survivor 50”?
