Jeff Probst Teases Rachel Reilly Casting On ‘Survivor’

Jeff Probst, Emmy-award winning host of “Survivor,” recently spoke about an emerging possibility that Rachel Reilly—veteran contestant of “Big Brother” and “The Amazing Race”—might become the first person to complete what some are calling the CBS reality trifecta. This trifecta would consist of competing on “Big Brother,” “The Amazing Race,” and “Survivor.” Reilly has only one left to accomplish on her list. The conversation comes amid fan and alum discussions about her competitive spirit and legacy on CBS’s reality competition shows. Freshly eliminated from “Big Brother” 27, fans are looking to see her next move.

Probst Comments on Reilly ‘Survivor’ Casting

On the red carpet for the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 15, Probst was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, when asked whether Rachel Reilly could become the first person to fill this trifecta, Jeff Probst responded with both openness and condition. He said, “Well, first she’s got to apply.”

He also acknowledged her potential directly. Probst said that Reilly “may be the first,” referring to someone who might manage to appear on “Survivor” in addition to her past appearances on “Big Brother” and “The Amazing Race.”

Probst voices his support for Reilly’s “Survivor” journey by adding “I think she has a shot” in the casting process. By putting the onus on applying, Probst implicitly confirmed that nothing is guaranteed: even with her strong reputation and fan support, Reilly would need to formally go through the casting or application process for “Survivor” before anything could happen.

Fan Reactions

Fans reacted vigorously to Probst’s remarks. They expressed excitement at the possibility that Reilly might join “Survivor,” viewing her as a worthy candidate to make history. One fan shares “people will underestimate her (since she’s from big brother)…that would do her justice.”

Other fans were frustrated by Probst’s remarks, mentioning Reilly would have to apply versus be contacted directly by “Survivor” production.

Some fans cautioned that Probst’s wording suggests that interest alone does not ensure selection. They interpret that the casting process remains competitive, and Reilly will need to engage formally. Others celebrated that Probst acknowledged her as someone who “may be the first,” which many interpret as strong support.

Did ‘Survivor’ take the Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program?

At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, the Television Academy awarded “The Traitors” the prize for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, leaving “Survivor” without a win in the category. “The Traitors” defeated several major competitors, including “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and “Top Chef”.

“Survivor” entered the night with a decorated history, having earned 73 nominations and seven Emmy wins throughout its run. Despite that legacy, voters recognized “The Traitors” for its innovative gameplay format, production value, and growing popularity. Host Alan Cumming accepted the award and thanked the Academy, the show’s cast and crew, and the fans. He specifically acknowledged those who celebrate the show at home, stating, “We see you; we love you”.
