Will ‘Blizzard’-Conditions Affect ‘Survivor 50’ New York City Premiere?

The long-awaited premiere of “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” is nearly here!

In just two days, the longrunning reality competition series will debut its milestone 50th season to CBS viewers nationwide, airing an unprecedented three-hour premiere episode on Wednesday, February 25 at 8:00pm ET.

Ahead of the televised premiere, however, longtime “Survivor” host Jeff Probst and the record-breaking cast of the golden anniversary season, alongside a number of prolific “Survivor” stars, are set to descend on New York City to celebrate the premiere in-person on the red carpet and in panel discussions ahead of an extended sneak preview of Wednesday’s episode.

Probst himself is similarly set to make a number of talk show appearances in the coming days, engagements that have already been interrupted by the blizzard-like conditions hitting New York City this week.

Heavy snows – predicted to result in a cumulative 18- 24 inches of snowfall in certain areas by the end of the day (Monday, Feb. 23) – and damaging winds from “bomb cyclone” Storm Hernando have caused the metropolis to grind to a halt over the weekend, resulting in the cancellation of more than 5,000 flights in and out of the city.

While Probst was meant to kick off the final week of pre-season “Survivor 50” press with an appearance on “The Sherri Show” with Sherri Sheridan this morning, the host’s interview was cancelled after the storm’s impact.

Probst is still scheduled to appear on “CBS Mornings,” “Live with Kelly & Mark” and “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

It remains to be seen if Storm Hernando will have any impact on these appearances, though it seems unlikely, given that Probst has already confirmed his arrival in New York City ahead of tomorrow night’s live premiere events, which will include a live Immunity challenge installation at Moynihan Hall, as well as a red carpet and panel discussion alongside the cast of “Survivor 50” at the Paley Center for Media.

Stay tuned for further updates as they become available, but it appears as if there shouldn’t be any further interruptions caused by Storm Hernando’s presence in New York City as “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” prepares to debut its historic three-hour premiere episode to CBS screen nationwide on Wednesday, February 25 at 8:00pm ET.
