Kate Middleton shared a touching moment with a fellow mother during a visit to one of Europe’s leading cancer centers this week.
The Princess of Wales visited The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester on June 4, where she learned more about the holistic services available to cancer patients and their families. During the visit, she met Claire Lorente, a 30-year-old breast cancer patient who was marking the final day of her treatment.
The meeting carried special significance for Kate, who announced her own cancer diagnosis in 2024 before revealing in January 2025 that she was in remission.

According to a video shared by Hello! magazine, Kate warmly greeted Lorente and immediately offered her a hug.
“Well done, you!” the Princess of Wales told her.
As the two spoke, Kate kept a reassuring hand on Lorente’s arm and asked about her treatment journey. Lorente explained that she had been undergoing treatment for nearly six months and still had surgery ahead of her.
Kate acknowledged the milestone while recognizing the challenges that came before it.
“It’s an amazing day,” she said, referring to the completion of treatment after what she described as a “tough” journey.
The princess also recognized the impact cancer treatment has on loved ones and caregivers.
Turning to Lorente’s partner, Kate said, “I know it’s just as hard for families and loved ones.”
Drawing from her own experience, she added, “I know how hard it was for the children and my parents. You go through it with them.”
Kate also took a moment to greet the couple’s baby, smiling and saying, “Isn’t Mummy brave?”
Moments later, she stepped back to allow Lorente to enjoy her milestone.
“This is your day,” Kate said.
The princess then applauded as Lorente emotionally rang the bell that traditionally marks the completion of treatment.
The Princess of Wales Highlights Holistic Cancer Care During Manchester Visit
Kate’s visit focused on the specialized support programs offered by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
The Manchester-based center provides free holistic therapies designed to help patients manage challenges often associated with cancer diagnoses and treatment, including stress, anxiety, depression, fear, and treatment-related symptoms.
The visit marked the second cancer-related engagement of the week for the Princess of Wales.
Earlier in the week, Kate joined King Charles III and other members of the royal family at St. James’s Palace to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research UK.
The event was particularly meaningful because it represented the first time Kate and the king had jointly supported a cancer-related cause since publicly revealing their diagnoses in 2024.

The reception was hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla and welcomed researchers, doctors, volunteers, and other supporters of Cancer Research UK. According to Buckingham Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also in attendance.
The event marked the start of Cancer Research UK’s 125th anniversary celebrations and featured displays highlighting the charity’s work, major advances in cancer research, and new technologies that could shape future treatments.
Charles publicly announced his cancer diagnosis in February 2024 and continues to receive treatment while carrying out many of his royal duties.
One month later, Kate revealed that she was also receiving treatment. She stepped away from public duties while focusing on her health before announcing she had completed chemotherapy in September 2024.
In January 2025, she shared the news that she was in remission.
