Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated their daughter Princess Lilibet’s 5th birthday by sharing some rare photos of their little girl on social media.
On June 4, the Duchess of Sussex posted two never-before-seen images of the couple’s daughter (embedded below). In one, the tot is held in her father’s arms, as both parents look at her lovingly. In the other, she’s seen looking at flowers in what appears to be the yard of their Montecito home.
While her face is obscured in the photos, they do highlight her long, red hair, as little Lili is clearly taking after her father.
“Our dream girl. Happy 5th birthday, Lili 🤍” Markle captioned the post.
Markle’s Rep Responds to Criticism
The new post comes just one day after Markle’s rep defended her decision to share photos of the children on social media, after she warned about the dangers of social media for kids during a recent speech in Geneva, Switzerland.
“The Duchess has always been clear that there is a distinction between sharing moments from her life and exposing her children to public scrutiny,” her rep said to Newsweek. “By obscuring their faces, she is demonstrating the very principle she advocates for: giving children privacy, agency, and protection in an increasingly digital world.
“Far from being contradictory, by concealing their faces she is actually reflecting the message she delivered in Geneva,” the rep added, “that parents can choose to share family experiences while still taking deliberate steps to protect identities, privacy, and digital footprint.”
Markle has been strategic about what she’s posted to her Instagram page since launching it in 2025. She often gives her followers a look at her family life with Prince Harry, though she almost always makes sure to block out their children’s faces.
In another recent post featuring Lilibet, the child was turned away from the camera as she helped her mother pick out an outfit for her trip to Switzerland. “Mama’s little helper 💜” she captioned the post.
Recent Birthday Celebrations for The Kids
While June 4 marks Lilibet’s birthday, Meghan and Harry celebrated both of their children’s birthdays at once back in May during a family trip to Disneyland.
On May 11, Markle shared a photo carousel highlighting their visit to the theme park with Lilibet, Prince Archie, and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. The outing came just days after Archie turned 7 on May 6.
“They were celebrating the kids’ birthdays together,” a source told PEOPLE of the trip. “The kids did lots of rides, and it was a special way to extend Mother’s Day for Meghan and her mom.”
The images showed Meghan, wearing Minnie Mouse ears, hugging her mother, walking through the park with Harry and the kids, Lilibet meeting the Disney princesses, and approaching Darth Vader in Galaxy’s Edge.
“❤️” Markle simply captioned the photos.
The family made a similar trip to the popular theme park back in 2025 as well, also right around Lilibet’s birthday.
“Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!” Markle wrote while sharing a video of their visit at the time.
