One of Netflix‘s more popular series in recent years has been “Nobody Wants This,” a cleverly witty rom-com about the unlikely romance between a rabbi (Adam Brody) and a free-spirited, non-Jewish podcaster (Kristen Bell),
Fans have been wondering when the series will be returning after the second season dropped back in October 2025.
Now, nearly a year later, Netflix is offering an update, revealing the premiere date for the third season, along with a new synopsis and some first-look photos.
Taking It to the Next Level
NetflixAccording to the new season’s synopsis, the couple’s relationship ventures into uncharted territory when they decide to move in together.
“After recommitting to each other at the end of last season, Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody) are moving into a home — and a relationship — that finally feels solid, embracing every exciting ‘first’ that comes with building their life together,” the synopsis notes.
Netflix“Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn) are thrust back into the dating world, whether they like it or not, stumbling through all the awkwardness (and unexpected thrill) of getting to know someone new, right as Morgan (Justine Lupe) takes her career to the next level, on her way to becoming an (almost) media sensation,” the synopsis adds. “Meanwhile, Sasha and Morgan have been circling something neither of them has been able to admit to.”
A ‘Champagne’ Season
NetflixExec producers Jenni Konner and Erin Foster teased what fans can expect to see in the upcoming instalment of “Nobody Wants This.”
According to Foster, whenever a potential storyline arose, she would ask one question. “We would ask, ‘Is this Champagne?’” Foster tells Tudum, noting that if it didn’t, that plot would evaporate like bubbles in a glass of sparkling wine. This season, however, is like popping a cork.
“This season feels like Champagne,” Konner adds.
Netflix“After the ups and downs of Noah and Joanne in Season 2, it was really important to us to be like, ‘Let’s let them have their moment now of settling in and having fun,'” adds exec producer and showrunner Bruce Eric Kaplan. “As they make a house a home, Noah and Joanne embrace all the firsts that come with building a life together.”
“We wanted to make sure that this couple is still fun and flirty with each other. That’s the thing that makes them special and why they like each other so much,” Foster says. “We talk in the writers room about if your man sees you in your bra and underwear, he’s still going to hope you’re about to have sex. No matter how long you’ve been together. That’s the dynamic we’re looking to emulate in the show — that once you get settled in, it doesn’t have to stop being fun.”
They Will and They Did
NetflixAccording to Konner, the will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic that characterized the first season is long gone, with the couple now taking a big step toward commitment.
“We didn’t have to do any more ‘Will they, won’t they?’” says Konner. “We know they are going to, and it was sort of, ‘How are they going to?’”
“We wanted this couple to be moving in forward motion together and have all these big romantic moments you want to see,” Foster chimes in. “We’re finding ways to do it so that it feels new, real, and there are some fun surprises.”
