‘The Voice’ Battle Rounds: Major Change & Superstar Advisors for Season 28

The next round of competition on “The Voice” season 28 kicks off with a two-hour episode on October 13, 2025. After three weeks of Blind Auditions, the coaches have finalized their teams (here’s who made Team Reba, Team NiallTeam Snoop and Team Bublé).

Now, it’s on to the Battle Round — and season 28 brings one major change and four megastar advisors. Here’s what to watch for…

‘The Voice’ Artists Will Choose Who They’re Battling

For the first time since “The Voice” premiered in 2011, the coaches won’t decide which of the artists on their teams will perform together. Rather, the 12 contestants will decide who they want to collaborate with and, in turn, compete against on the Battle Round stage.

However, the coaches are still choosing the songs, according to NBC Insider, and in some cases, it’s a unique challenge to find something that works well for both artists. They’ll also each have one Steal and one Save.

In one leaked video from NBC, Trinity and Jazz Mackenzie were revealed as one of the pairs. Their coach, Michael Bublé, decided to have them sing Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity.”

Four megawatt stars will add to the intensity of the Battle Rounds, helping the coaches mentor their artists.

Pop superstar Lizzo will serve as an advisor to Snoop Dogg’s team of 12 artists. Among the singers she’ll help mentor is Toni Lorene, who wowed the coaches with her Blind Audition, singing her hit “Cuz I Love You.”

Nick Jonas will return to the show as Reba McEntire’s team advisor. The Jonas Brothers singer is no stranger to “The Voice,” having been a coach on seasons 18 and 20. He was also an advisor on season 15 for Christina Aguilera’s team.

Country sensation Kelsea Ballerini made her debut as a coach on “The Voice” in season 27, and now she’s back in season 28 advising Bublé’s team of 12. Bublé was also a coach on season 27 (which he won with Adam David) and formed a bond with Ballerini.

Meanwhile, Niall Horan will get to work with Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi during the Battle Rounds — and they happen to be super close friends. To get a feel for their vibe together, check out their road trip documentary from 2022.

The first night of “The Voice” Battle Rounds premieres on October 13 at 8 p.m. Eastern time on NBC.

  1. One aggravating thing for me is the majority of the time the song is too short, but there has been artists where we either only heard a portion of the song, didn’t hear them at all or the judges talking is the focus.

Let’s have last gimmicks, banter and comedy time between the judges and let the contestants be heard singing a song in its entirety and uninterrupted.

There are some voices that I’d really like to hear, there are some songs I really wish I could hear the whole thing.

Maybe have a site or something where the public can suggest songs they want to hear.
