Rumors about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s marriage popped up late last month after the couple skipped the CMA Awards, but a new insider story paints a very different picture of where they actually stand. A close friend of Shelton recently shared a moment that highlights just how smitten Stefani still is with her husband — and it comes as the couple is leaning into their favorite holiday traditions, bouncing between Oklahoma and California, and soaking up the Christmas season together.
Blake Shelton Insider Reveals Gwen Stefani’s Reaction at Oklahoma Ranch
The latest insight came during Blake Shelton’s appearance on the Michael Waddell Podcast, when host Waddell recalled spending time with the couple at Shelton’s Oklahoma property. According to Waddell, watching Stefani admire Shelton in his element was a moment that stuck with him.
Waddell described a day when Shelton stepped away from planting flowers to hop on a skid steer, a compact tractor used for farm work. As Shelton fired it up, Stefani reportedly couldn’t take her eyes off him.
“You walked away and Gwen just watched you,” Waddell said. “And you went over there and cranked that tractor … and she’s just watching, and I said, ‘Oh, Blake can run that skid steer.’ And Gwen’s like, ‘That’s a man.’”
Waddell said the moment gave him instant clarity on the couple’s dynamic.
“Dude, it blew me away,” he continued. “I said, ‘Is that pretty cool, Gwen?’ And she said, ‘I just didn’t know. I never was around that, and that is just so cool that Blake knows this stuff and can work on those tractors and work on our car.’”
Shelton, who previously served as a coach on “The Voice,” reportedly blushed as the story was shared, hearing it for the first time. For Waddell, it summed up why the couple works so well, despite coming from very different worlds.
The story also lands at a moment when split rumors were already being shut down. After the pair missed the CMA Awards on Nov. 19 — where Shelton was nominated for Musical Event of the Year for his feature on Post Malone’s “Pour Me a Drink” — speculation spread online. Shelton’s representatives quickly dismissed it, telling Page Six on Nov. 30, “This is a completely made-up story created solely for headlines and clicks.” Multiple sources have since echoed that the couple is solid.
The ‘You Make It Feel Like Christmas’ Singers Lean Into Holiday Bliss
While the rumor mill churned, the couple who famously met and fell in love on the set of “The Voice” were quietly enjoying the holidays the way they always do — together. During a Dec. 4 appearance on “Today,” Stefani shared how the couple spends December bouncing between Oklahoma and Los Angeles.
“Blake and I, we just bounce back and forth between Oklahoma constantly,” Stefani explained. “This December, we’re going back there and then we’re gonna bounce back to L.A.”
The flexibility has allowed them to maximize family time. Stefani shares sons Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 11, with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, and she said the couple even pulled off two Thanksgivings this year.
It’s been a blessing to be able to do that,” she said. “We’ll do more of the bouncing back and forth. I love it. Oklahoma, this time of year, is the best. It’s so beautiful.”
The holidays are also deeply tied to music for the couple. Their 2017 duet “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” remains a fan favorite, and Stefani continues to expand her holiday catalog. This season, she released new tracks including “Hot Cocoa” and “Shake the Snow Globe,” the latter debuting in the Prime Video film “Oh. What. Fun.” She also performed at the 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony.
“When Christmas comes around, you feel so nostalgic,” Stefani told KOST 103.5 in November. “You only get to hear it that one time of year, so it makes it even more special.”
