‘The Voice’ Coaches Reveal Who They Think Should Coach Future Seasons

With season 28 of “The Voice” in the books and season 29 set to premiere in February 2026 (featuring returning coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine), NBC is already planning for season 30, with auditions already underway.

Coaches haven’t been announced for season 30, which will likely debut in the fall of 2026. So, after Aiden Ross was declared the season 28 winner on December 16, 2025, EntertainmentWeekly asked several of the show’s stars who they think NBC should recruit for the ultimate lineup of celebrity coaches.

Michael Bublé Has Several Ideas for Future Coaches on ‘The Voice’

After wrapping season 28 alongside Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Niall Horan, three-time coach Michael Bublé had some intriguing ideas for future coaches, starting with Meghan Trainor.

“Meghan Trainor’s a girl that I really like, great personality,” he told Entertainment Weekly, and he may be on to something. Trainor served as a coach on “The Voice UK” in 2020 and, in 2023, she signed on a judge on “Australian Idol.” She campaigned hard in the media to fill Katy Perry’s spot in 2024, but the role eventually went to “Idol” alum Carrie Underwood.

Bublé also told EntertainmentWeekly, “There’s a young guy named Forrest Frank who I really, really like. I’m a fan. He writes great music.”

The crooner’s third suggestion? Bublé would love to see Kelsea Ballerini return to her coaching chair. He said the country star, who was a first-time coach in season 27 and served as an advisor to Team Bublé during season 28, “was so good, I think they’d be lucky to have someone like that back.”

Reba McEntire Makes a Case for Adding Lainey Wilson to ‘The Voice’ Coaching Lineup

Reba McEntire made a pitch for fellow country star Lainey Wilson, with whom she scored a hit in 2025 with their song “Trailblazer” alongside Miranda Lambert.

When asked who she’d suggest to NBC executives for the coaching panel, McEntire immediately told Entertainment Weekly, “Lainey Wilson. Oh yeah, she’ll be great at it. She’s very opinionated, she knows what she’s talking about, she’s very smart, very quick, and one of the busiest women I know.”

Snoop Dogg Wants a Classic R&B Artist on the Coaching Panel

Snoop Dogg, meanwhile, went old school with his choice for a new coach on “The Voice,” picking Grammy-winning artist Sade, who topped the charts in the late 80s and early 90s with hits like “Smooth Operator.”

“I love Sade,” Snoop said. “I think she should come be a coach. She’s done it for many years. Beautiful vocalist, you know, inspiring.”

Entertainment Weekly also asked for suggestions from reality stars Ariana Madix and Dylan Efron, who hosted a preview special before “The Voice” finale on December 16. Efron selected Burna Boy, joking that he’d be wearing sunglasses the entire time, and Madix suggested Paul McCartney, but laughingly acknowledged, “I do think he might have other things he’s busy with!”
