The Latest Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Romance Update

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton kept their holiday low-key at home and shared a sweet moment with fans. On November 28, Stefani posted an Instagram Stories photo of Shelton kissing her on the cheek as she smiled in a flannel.

There was no caption or explanation, but the picture gave a quiet update on where things stand for the former coaches on “The Voice.” It was a relaxed look at their post-Thanksgiving weekend and a reminder that they’re spending the season together.

A source told E! News that the couple planned to spend the holidays in Oklahoma with their family, keeping things “lowkey” after a busy year of music, TV projects, and business ventures.

Stefani and Shelton, who married in 2021, have been laying low in recent weeks. According to E! News, the couple skipped the Country Music Awards on November 19, with an insider sharing that they would be “watching the CMAs on their TV this year” instead of attending in person.

The decision aligns with how Shelton has described their life in Oklahoma. In a 2023 interview with E! News, he shared that their Southern property has helped Stefani tap into a new side of herself.

“I’m not going to say that she’s become this country girl, but I just think we’re starting to see a different side of Gwen,” Shelton said.

Stefani has echoed that sentiment. Speaking to The Guardian in 2023, she explained that their shared time on the land—especially during the pandemic—became a meaningful part of their relationship.

“I know this sounds weird, but Blake and I came together in gardening,” Stefani said. “We have a house together in Oklahoma, and during the pandemic, we came across this very old building on the land, and there were some purple irises, which someone must have planted centuries ago, but they’ve survived.”

She added that meeting Shelton after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale felt transformative. “Meeting my husband felt like a second chance at life,” she said. “Because when my family fell apart, it felt like a catastrophe. How do you pick yourself up from that? But God put this other person there to love me.”

Shelton has also spoken about their holiday traditions in Oklahoma. In a 2023 interview with People, he joked that the house has one major Thanksgiving rule: “Never say no to any kind of food.” He said he likes to experiment with “whatever weird one we come up with,” while Stefani handles the more traditional recipes. “We go all out for Thanksgiving,” he added. “We’ve got a huge family, so we feel good about making a bunch of food.”

Blake Shelton Stays Close To ‘The Voice’ Family Even After His Exit

While Shelton officially stepped away from his full-time role on “The Voice” after season 23, he has not disappeared from the show’s orbit. In an April 2024 interview with E! News, he explained that his exit felt like the right move.

“I did 23 seasons of the show and I enjoyed it,” he said. “And by the time I got to that last season, it was time.”

Shelton said he wanted to refocus on his country career. “I needed to get back to what my day job was anyway,” he explained. “Which is, you know, being a country singer.” He added that while he still feels close to the “Voice” family, he does not see himself returning as a full-time coach: “As far as the job goes, I don’t think I’m ever ready to do that again as I sit here now.”

Even so, Shelton popped up in a playful way during a recent episode of “The Voice” season 28. When Michael Bublé joked about chasing a three-peat as a winning coach, Niall Horan responded by playing an audio clip of Shelton saying, “I don’t give a crap about a three-peat.”

The moment sent the audience and coaches into laughter. Horan looked up and joked, “My father! Is that you?” before replaying the clip and adding, “I miss you dad. I know you’re back there in Oklahoma, harvesting some fields or something.”

For fans, it was a reminder that even if Shelton is spending more time at home with Stefani and their blended family, his presence still looms large over the “Voice” stage—and his romance with Stefani remains firmly in the spotlight, even when they keep things quiet.

New episodes of “The Voice” season 28 air Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC, with episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock.
