In a July 2024 interview with The Buzz, Pope opened up about her transition from country music to pop-punk with her album “Hereditary,” a genre deeply tied to her roots dating back to the formation of her band Hey Monday in 2008.

In her interview, she also reflected on her time on “The Voice,” sharing that she will always be “proud” of her experience on the show and grateful for the role it played in launching her solo career.

“I don’t mind when people mention that I won ‘The Voice,’ you know, it’s part of my journey, it’s part of my story,” she began. “I remember going solo after ‘The Voice,’ and people would still refer to me as the lead singer of Hey Monday. I wouldn’t have done those things if I had just wanted people to forget that that ever happened. That’s unrealistic, and I’m proud of what I’ve done.”

Pope went on to explain that after winning “The Voice,” she worked hard to establish herself as an artist outside of the show’s spotlight. While she remains thankful for the platform and opportunities it gave her, Pope shared that it was important for her to build a career that reflected her own identity.

“Hopefully, yes, people remember that you did the show, but you want to stand alone from the show. I think I’ve done a decent job of that. I’m proud of all my accomplishments since the show, but I also am always grateful for that experience,” she said.
