Dolly Parton is on the road to recovery, feeling healthier and more energized each day. The country music icon, 79, is “getting better every day,” a source close to her told People after she faced recent health challenges.
“She is at home taking care of herself while many friends and family visit her,” the insider shares. “In true Dolly spirit, she’s already started decorating for the holidays — her favorite time of year.”
Fans began to worry in September when the former “The Voice” guest mentor Parton postponed her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency from December 2025 to September 2026 due to health concerns. The news came just months after she lost her beloved husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in March at 82.
Even amid personal loss and health setbacks, those close to her say Parton’s trademark positivity hasn’t wavered, proving once again that the Queen of Country never truly slows down.
‘I Ain’t Got Time to Get Old’
GettyParton addressed her health and aging with her signature optimism during an interview with People for her November cover story.
“People say, ‘Well, you’re going to be 80 years old.’ Well, so what? Look at all I’ve done in 80 years. I feel like I’m just getting started,” she said. “Unless my health gives way — which right now I seem to be doing fine — I think there’s a lot to be said about age. If you allow yourself to get old, you will. I say, ‘I ain’t got time to get old!’”
Her resilient outlook reflects her decades-long career, which continues to inspire fans around the world.
Parton Clarifies Health Concerns
In early October, Parton addressed fan worries directly in a cheerful Instagram video, reassuring everyone she was doing well.
“Lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick?” she said with a laugh. “I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of. When I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this. We need to take care of that.’ Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home. But I wanted you to know that I’m not dying.”
The update brought relief to fans who feared her condition was serious. While focusing on her recovery, Parton recently released her new book, “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage,” which celebrates her seven-decade career in music and entertainment.
“I’m at that point in my life where I just want to be able to do good things that can be carried on,” she said. “I’m proud of my legacy so far, and I hope to just continue to do things that might be of use to other people.”
As she recovers surrounded by loved ones and prepares for another festive season, one thing is clear: Dolly Parton’s legendary sparkle isn’t fading anytime soon.
