Reba McEntire, 70, Shares Nostalgic Photos as a New Mom in the ‘90s: ‘Feels Like Yesterday’

Reba McEntire joined the viral social media trend of sharing a nostalgic clip from the ’90s — and her throwback video did not disappoint!

As part of the trend, the 70-year-old included a text overlay on her Instagram video, writing, “Mom, what were you like in the 90s?” The first part of the sweet clip showed the country music star in the present day, dressed in her stylish Midwestern attire — and of course, she was wearing some form of turquoise jewelry.

As the video continued, a compilation of photos was put together of McEntire with her son when he was a baby. The musician welcomed her only child, Shelby Blackstock, in February 1990, with her ex-husband and professional race car driver, Narvel Blackstock.

The sweet clip also highlighted a variety of her performances from that era, as well as milestone moments when she took home awards from shows like the American Music Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards.

McEntire captioned her Instagram post, writing, “Feels like yesterday… give or take 30 years!” She set the clip to the tune of “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.

Fans jumped into the artist’s comments to express how she has been — and always will be — their favorite country artist. Some fans also quoted her hit song and “Reba” theme song, “I’m a Survivor” — a stark lyrical parallel to the video she shared, full of images of balancing her bustling career all while becoming a mom and family woman.

“A single mom who works two jobs, Who loves her kids and never stops, With gentle hands and a heart of a fighter, I’m a survivor 👑,” one fan wrote.

“Was and still is that girl. 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” wrote another.

“90s Reba stole my heart ❤️🎤✨ Forever obsessed.💃🏼,” added a third.

“Reba baby you aged so gracefully!! Love you!” said a fourth.

Reba McEntire’s Incredible Life in the ’90s

In a 2025 interview with People, McEntire gushed about the admiration she has for her son, telling the outlet that she could not be more “proud of him.”

“Shelby is a gift from God to me. We’re very close,” the artist shared. “I was a very self-centered person to a degree before Shelby. But then there’s a little character who you are given the job to protect and nurture and love and teach, so all the attention’s not on you anymore.”

While balancing her life as a new mom with her astounding career as a country artist in the ’90s, McEntire managed to release many RIAA-platinum-certified albums during that time, including “Rumor Has It” (1990), “For My Broken Heart” (1991), “It’s Your Call” (1992), “Read My Mind” (1994), “Starting Over” (1995), “What If It’s You” (1996), “If You See Him (1998) and “So Good Together” (1999).

In 2001, McEntire’s hit sitcom “Reba” premiered its first season and went on for six seasons. She’s also captured the hearts of many as a fan-favorite coach on “The Voice” and is currently starring in NBC’s “Happy’s Place,” which will premiere its third season in the fall of 2026, TV Insider reported.
