Jordan Smith: Where the ‘The Voice’ Season 9 Winner Is 10 Years Later UPDATE

It has officially been 10 years since Jordan Smith was crowned the winner of “The Voice” season 9, a victory that made him one of the most memorable champions in the show’s history. Coached by Adam Levine, Smith stunned viewers with his range, emotion, and consistency, ultimately taking home the title in 2015. While Smith has largely stayed out of the mainstream spotlight since his win, he has quietly built a meaningful and successful career rooted in music, faith, and family. A decade later, fans are still curious about what the singer is doing now.

Inside ‘The Voice’ Season 29 All-Star Showdown

“The Voice” is continuing its Battle of Champions momentum with a new twist for season 29. During tonight’s episode, the show will feature a special “All-Star Showdown” that brings back several fan-favorite winners and finalists for a one-night competition.

Among those returning is season 9 winner Jordan Smith, who originally competed on Team Adam. He will be joined by Jake Hoot (season 17 winner, Team Kelly Clarkson), Javier Colón (season 1 winner, Team Adam Levine), Renzo (season 27 finalist, Team John Legend), Girl Named Tom (season 21 winner, Team Kelly Clarkson), and Maelyn Jarmon (season 16 winner, Team John Legend).

Former coach CeeLo Green will also return to the show to judge the competition and select the winner of the All-Star Showdown.

Jordan Smith Returns to ‘The Voice’ After Season 9 Win

Smith remains one of the most memorable winners in “The Voice” history. After first appearing on the show in 2015, Smith quickly stood out with his vocal ability and emotional performances.

His Blind Audition of Sia’s “Chandelier” earned a four-chair turn from Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, and Blake Shelton.

Throughout the competition, Smith continued to deliver standout performances that resonated with both coaches and viewers.

Smith ultimately won season 9 as a member of Team Adam, becoming one of the show’s most recognizable champions. His return for the All-Star Showdown marks a full-circle moment as the series celebrates past winners during its current season.

Where Jordan Smith Is Now After ‘The Voice’?

Smith is still recording and releasing music, though his focus has shifted in a more personal direction. In February 2025, he released his sixth album, “The People’s Hymnal.” Rather than original tracks, the album features a collection of songs Smith grew up singing and considers foundational to his musical identity.

“They feel as much mine as a song could that I didn’t write myself,” Smith told Parade. “They’ve just been staples throughout my life, songs that I’ve always known.” He added that the album “came from my heart and from my creative brain,” even without writing credits.

While Smith confirmed that touring plans are in development, he admitted that life on the road is no longer his favorite part of the job. “The older I get, the less I love the touring part of it,” he said. “I’m a homebody, so I love being home with my family.” Still, Smith emphasized that connecting with fans makes the challenge worthwhile.

Smith also returned to television competition in 2022 when he competed on NBC’s “American Song Contest,” finishing in third place. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “That was the best I could ask for considering the caliber of talent on that show.”

In September, Smith marked a major milestone, writing on Instagram: “Today is the TEN year anniversary of the day my blind audition aired and life changed forever. I never could have dreamt in that moment where I would be all this time later, but what a ride it’s been. Thanks for walking out this wild journey with me! I couldn’t do it without all of you. Now, here’s to the next ten! Thank you Jesus!”

Inside ‘The Voice’ Winner’s Gospel Music Career and Relationship With Adam Levine

Although Smith sang mostly secular music during his time on “The Voice,” he has since become a powerhouse in gospel music. He has released four Christian studio albums and is considered the show’s bestselling artist after leaving television.

“When we wrote this song…I knew it was special,” Smith told The Christian Post while releasing his first Christian single, “Great You Are.” “It’s really special for me to be able to return my gift to the Lord and point the glory back to Him.”

Smith has also joined multiple Christian music tours, describing the experience of worshiping with audiences night after night as deeply fulfilling.

As for his relationship with Adam Levine, Smith says they do not stay in close contact but remain supportive of one another. “He has always been so kind,” Smith said, via TV Insider. “He’s the most genuine, kind person… to know that we support each other has been special.”

Smith has been married to his wife, Kristen Denny, since June 2016. He confirmed their continued happiness with a Valentine’s Day 2025 post, reading, “My forever valentine. I love you more than words.”
