Reality TV star Whitney Way Thore recently peeled back another layer — this time in the literal sense — by sharing 16 tattoos she rarely shows and revealing the personal stories (or lack thereof) behind each.
In a bold move on Instagram, Whitney displayed close-ups of her body art and offered candid commentary.
She began her post with a confession: “Almost all of these were impulsive decisions that don’t have any meaning but here we go!”
Many of the designs are whimsical or spontaneous — mountains, animals, foreign phrases, matching tattoos with friends — inked during moments of inspiration rather than deep symbolism.
Her tattoo journey goes back to 2005, when she got a cluster of stars inked on her ankle while in Derry, Northern Ireland.
But among all her tattoos, Whitney named her ribcage humpback whale (inked in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2018) as her favorite. It resides in a more intimate spot, making its reveal especially meaningful.
It’s clear that Whitney embraces each tattoo as part of her evolving self rather than an immutable symbol.
She explained that many were spontaneous choices made along her life’s path, not deeply premeditated statements.
Body Transformation
Thore has been showing off her new look as she has lost roughly 100 pounds!
She shared an image to social media on September 1, showing off her impressive trasformation.
She shared a carousel of images and wrote, “Waited 23 years for the best night of my life.” She was attending a System of a Down concert.
The images showed the crowd at the concert, a close up of her gorgous outfit, and a snap of Thore sleeping.
Thore Wants to Be a Mom
The latest season of MBFFL featured Thore’s journey to motherhood. Throughout the course of the season, we saw the 41-year-old try to get pregnant.
We saw her search for a sperm donor as she tries to accomplish her long-held dream of motherhood.
“My criteria for a donor, I feel like, is pretty straightforward and simple,” she told viewers. “I absolutely do not care what color this child is, what color the eyes are, the hair is. Obviously, I want the person to be healthy with no genetic diseases.”
She also underwent a womb wash and later tries to artifically inseminate herself.
“It was all fun and games when Ashley walked in with a rubber turtle, but now things are getting really real,” she said during the episode. “It was one thing to have my eggs frozen, and this is another. This is actually the most intentional act that I’ve ever done to try and get pregnant in my life, and it feels weird that I’m doing it alone.”
