Erin Krakow’s role as Elizabeth Thornton on “When Calls the Heart” is adored by Hearties worldwide, so much so that a strict panel of judges nominated her for a Grace Award at the upcoming 33rd Annual Movieguide Awards.
The esteemed Grace Award honors the most inspiring performance that exemplifies God’s grace and mercy — making Krakow’s role as Hope Valley’s beloved teacher a deserving contender.

Although Krakow’s role as Elizabeth undoubtedly has countless moments where she appears as a stand-up mentor to her Hope Valley neighbors, her nomination is specifically for season 12, episode 2, titled “You Get What You Give.”
According to Hallmark Channel, the episode’s storyline is described as, “When the comic book craze sweeps Hope Valley, Elizabeth teaches her students through nature. Rosemary launches a radio show, and Lucas meets a new political player.”
Krakow will have to defeat a talented group of actresses, including Hallmark alums, to take home the Grace Award. Nominees for the category include Candace Cameron Bure in “Timeless Tidings of Joy,” Danica McKellar in “Have We Met This Christmas,” Shae Robins in “A Christmas Prayer” and Serayah in “Ruth & Boaz.”
The 33rd Annual Movieguide Awards will be hosted by Candace Cameron Bure and her daughter, Natasha Bure, 27, and will be broadcast on the Great American Family network. The ceremony will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood.
What Are the Movieguide Awards?
HallmarkMovieguide CEO Robby Baehr explained in a press release statement that those who were nominated for a Movieguide Award deserve the honor for their virtuous work in film and television.
“These nominees demonstrate what audiences are hungry for: stories anchored in faith, virtue, and timeless values,” Baehr said. “Faith-driven storytelling isn’t just meaningful; it’s powerful entertainment that resonates across generations. We’re honored to celebrate these films and the filmmakers who are bringing light to screens worldwide.”
Categories that will be honored at this year’s award show include Best Family Television/Streaming, Best Mature Audience Movies, Best Family Movies, Best Movies for Children, Epiphany Prize, Faith & Freedom and Best Documentary.
Although most nominees are chosen from the Hallmark and Great American Family networks, Hollywood actors have also been selected, including Kevin Costner for his “The First Christmas” documentary, Uma Thurman for “The King of Kings” and Kelsey Grammer for “The Christmas Ring.”
