Cast of ‘Boy Meets World’ Mourns David Kendall, Calling Him a ‘Vital Piece of Our Family’ in Touching Tribute

The “Boy Meets World” cast is remembering a guiding force behind the show that meant so much to them and to generations of viewers. On May 2, “Pod Meets World” hosts Will Friedle, Rider Strong, and Danielle Fishel announced the passing of David Kendall in a touching Instagram post.

As a writer, director, and executive producer, Kendall helped shape the series’ heart while supporting the cast through their early years.

A Mentor Who Shaped Generations of Talent

“To say that David Kendall was instrumental in the creation of Boy Meets World would be an understatement,” the message began.

“He directed, wrote, and executive produced our show, but also helped mold some of TV’s most memorable sitcoms, from Growing Pains to Hannah Montana.”

Beyond his behind-the-scenes work, Kendall’s influence extended to the people he worked closely with.

The cast reflected on how he helped guide their early careers, both creatively and personally.

Additionally, the post noted that Kendall helped “develop Danielle, Will & Rider’s young creative voices” as a co-worker and mentor.

His impact reached far beyond one series. Over the years, Kendall worked with rising stars early in their careers, including Zendaya, Austin Butler, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers.

‘We Are Devastated’: Cast Reflects on Personal Loss

For those who worked with him and knew him closely, Kendall’s impact went far beyond the screen.

“We are devastated to lose such an important person in our lives, both professionally and personally,” the cast shared.

“We all kept in touch with David over the past 30 years, and are honored that we were able to share his incredible personality with our Pod Meets World listeners.”

They ended the tribute with words that reflected both their loss and the lasting place he holds in their lives.

“We have lost a vital piece of our family, but we ask that the next time you watch the show, especially Seasons 2 & 3 (when he served as showrunner), you think of our beloved Kendall.”

“We love you, David. Rest in peace. No notes.”
