Drew Barrymore Finds Buyer for 12-Acre New York Estate: PHOTOS

Drew Barrymore felt a “spiritual calling” to her 12-acre estate in Harrison, New York. However, after a full renovation, the talk show host has sold the beloved home.

Drew Barrymore Sells Home

Barrymore listed the 6-bedroom home for just under $5 million in March. It didn’t take long to find a buyer for the 18th century estate.

After purchasing the home in 2024 for $4.4 million, Barrymore revamped the home’s bones, including plumbing, heating, and air conditioning.

While it was never her primary home, the actress reportedly grew tired of the long drive to the Hamptons and decided to purchase a weekend escape.

“I walked in and I was, like, ‘I know my family’s been here. I know that I have to work on this house. I know that I’m supposed to be doing this,'” she told Wall Street Journal in March. “It was like a strange, spiritual calling.”

She joked, “Between Pinterest, thrifting and a can of paint, there’s nothing you can’t do.”

“I thought it was paint and wallpaper and move in. I had no idea what I was undertaking,” Barrymore told Rue Magazine earlier this year. “I spent crazy amounts of hours figuring out how to preserve things. So much of it was experimenting. It was very micro — and very macro.”

The 5,600-square-foot home was built in 1748. It features five bedrooms in the main house, plus a pool, and a poolhouse with an additional bedroom.

Located approximately one hour outside of Manhattan, Barrymore told WSJ, “It’s really like being in your own personal park. There are tons of deer. There are pheasants, there are ducks, there are rabbits.”

Barrymore put her personal touches on the home, including “maximalist patterned wallpaper,” bold paint colors, and heavy drapery.

“Every little corner gets scrutinized for what it could be,” she told WSJ. “If I see a closet, it’s probably not a closet, it’s going to become some secret hideout for my kid, or I’m going to take the door off and turn it into a sculptural piece.”

Drew Barrymore’s Life Has Changed

According to the “Never Been Kissed” actress, by the time the extensive renovations were complete, her family’s lives had changed.

“I had desperately wanted a place outside the city because I had been working for years at this point inside of a studio with no windows,” Barrymore told Rue Magazine in March. “I’m from California, and I just had this urge to find nature.”

She told the outlet that she found the property while scrolling through Zillow.

Despite never living in the home full-time, Barrymore made some beautiful memories on the property.

“I lived in the house in the most primitive of scenarios. It’s some of my favorite times and memories,” she told WSJ of the summers spent on the property amid the construction zone.

The “Santa Clarita Diet” star explained how she used the outdoor grill while her kitchen was a wreck.

“There we were in zero-degree weather with parkas, hoodies, gloves and face masks. But we were, like, ‘We gotta do it. It’s the tradition,'” she shared.

Barrymore primarily resides in Manhattan, where she films her daily talk show. She lives with her two daughters, Olive, 13, and Frankie, 12, whom she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman.
