Drew Barrymore is one of the most talked-about names among the current crop of daytime talk show hosts. Now, as the talker is currently in its sixth season, the news has come out that it has been given a multi-year renewal, a rare feat for shows today.
According to Deadline, “The Drew Barrymore Show” has been renewed for two additional seasons. The renewal includes various stations around the U.S. owned by CBS, CBS Media, Sinclair, and Nexstar. The hit daytime talk show will also get time-period upgrades in several of the top 40 markets around the country, including Seattle, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Baltimore, Kansas City, and Cincinnati.
The renewal for “Drew Barrymore” has the show remaining on the air at least until 2028, which would be its eighth season.
Drew Barrymore Has Released A Statement on Her Show Being Renewed
GettyThe news of the show’s renewal came with a statement from Barrymore herself. She said, “What matters most to us is our viewers and the people that come here! This show began as a space for intimate conversation, and we’re continuing to plant our flag as a truly multiplatform experience.
We live in a world where people discover content in so many different ways, and from the very start in 2020, our mission was to break the mold rather than conform to the traditional daytime landscape.”
She then discussed the show’s future and her contributions, saying, “I hold myself accountable to staying savvy about how and where this show is seen – feeding every corner that counts, while daring to just be myself and figure out life with others.
My curiosity about people is what fuels me. I’m so excited to continue, as I see this endeavor as an opportunity and a gift. Our show family is deeply grateful for the support of CBS and George Cheeks, who all helped us get here.”
The Show is a Hit With Viewers
CBS and various other stations renewing “The Drew Barrymore Show” is huge news, but it’s hardly surprising. According to The Wrap, the daytime talk show is the fastest-growing option in the genre. Per the outlet, season six was averaging over 1.46 million viewers after just over a month on air. This represented a 3% increase in viewership over the same period in 2024.
The series also saw a 2% increase in viewership among women in the 55-and-up demographic, as well as a 5% bump in overall adults aged 55 and up tuning in.
Before the news of Barrymore’s renewal, Fox stations renewed “The Jennifer Hudson” show for its fifth season.
