Nicole Kidman is looking back on both of her marriages.
The actress sat down with British Vogue for their cover story, in which she opened up about her divorce from Keith Urban while also making rare comments on her past marriage to Tom Cruise. And with that, she also touched on what’s next, as she’s ready for this next chapter in her life.
Kidman’s love story with Cruise dates back to Christmas Eve in 1990, when the two tied the knot.
“Yeah, I got married so young,” Kidman recalled. “Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural. We just fell madly in love and it was that simple.”
“I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married,’” she added. ““Then, I was his ‘wife’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’ I’m like, ‘So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care.’”
The two were married for 11 years, ultimately getting divorced in 2001. They adopted two children, daughter Isabella in 1992 and son Connor in 1995.

Kidman filed for divorce from the country singer last September after 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. And now, in an interview with British Vogue, she is admitting that her future is “completely unknown to me right now.”
The actress also admitted that it has not been an easy year as she navigates this very public breakup.
“But at the same time I’m like, ‘OK, I didn’t expect this. I had a different view of what my life was going to be, but this is what it is now.’ You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it’s all going to be like and then it’s… not. You have to adjust. You adapt.”
So, is she scared about the uncertainty she now faces?
“There was a point where I was very fearful and deeply vulnerable, which is exposing. And then at the same time [I’m] going, ‘Well, I can either really not confront it and just curl up, or I can just go forward with an enormous amount of hope,’” she explained.

When it comes to just letting loose and having fun, nobody does it better than Kidman, it seems. And she has the perfect way to hide from the public eye.
“It’s a small dinner party or it’s a rave,” she explained. “I’m either playing Scrabble or I’m out. It’s that simple.
“Dinner at 10.30pm, club at 1am. I’ll put on glasses. Sometimes I’ll wear a little dark wig to hide, and then I can just dance. As long as I’m surrounded by people [I take with me], then I’m fine. I need it.
