Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” isn’t just about the grueling physical challenges, although that alone could make anyone second-guess signing up. The reality TV series also pushes contestants to their emotional limits, often taking a toll on their ability to complete the military-style missions.
So, it may come as a shock when Bravo star Brittany Cartwright recently revealed that filming “The Valley” was way tougher than her short stint on “Special Forces.”
Brittany Cartwright Admits Filming ‘The Valley’ Was the ‘Hardest’ Moment of Her Life
GettyBrittany Cartwright may have lasted just a day on “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” season 4, but it takes some guts to join a show that mimics actual military-style missions, like leaping out of a helicopter or facing relentless drill sergeants.
While most contestants call the Fox series the hardest experience in their lives, Cartwright can’t say the same. In a recent interview with Parade, the Bravo star revealed that filming her own show has been her biggest challenge yet.
“Obviously, physically, there’s nothing that compares to ‘Special Forces’ and the stuff that you go through,” she began. “But my life on ‘The Valley’ season 2 was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
She continued, “It’s completely different. There’s no way to compare the two, but season 2, out of my 10 years in reality TV, was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
Season 2 of “The Valley” proved especially difficult for Cartwright as she navigated a tumultuous separation from Jax Taylor, who had checked himself into a rehab facility for anger issues. Despite that, Taylor continued to barrage her with rage-filled texts while also leaving her under financial strain.
Cartwright Defended Her Early Exit From ‘Special Forces’
Cartwright was the first person to withdraw from “Special Forces” after struggling with a physical task when her team had lost a challenge. After self-eliminating on the first day, she faced heavy criticism online for her early departure.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Cartwright admitted that she was not “physically fit” at the time of filming, and “was going through different things in my life,” including having to leave her son, Cruz, who was diagnosed with autism. Filming of season 4 took place in Morocco.
“I had also never been away from my son [Cruz] that long before. There were just a lot of different factors that were playing against me. I was in my own head and I’m so glad I did it. If I would do it over again, I would work out harder and be in a better place in my life. But I don’t take it for granted,” she shared.
Despite leaving early, Cartwright got to face her fear of heights when she leaped out of a helicopter.
