Why Jax Taylor is Missing From ‘The Valley’ Season 3

“The Valley” is returning for a third season on Wednesday, April 1. There will be returning cast members, new faces, and fan favorites. But there’s one person you won’t see on the show: Jax Taylor, as he makes major changes in his life.

The former Bravo star has moved out of town and out of the spotlight. He’s “transformed his life” after his firing. Taylor is making positive changes in his life, including not drinking or partying.

Jax Taylor Focuses on a Fresh Start

Taylor wants to start on a clean slate after he was fired from “The Valley” after season 2 wrapped up, reports Us Weekly. His main focus is to stay sober for his son, Cruz, 4, whom he shares with ex-wife Brittany Cartwright.

“He’s doing really well. Jax has been sober now for over one year and 3 months,” an insider told the outlet. “He had even stopped smoking weed, and it’s been six months.”

That same source revealed that the former reality star has “completely transformed his life.” Taylor leads an active, healthy lifestyle these days. He ditched partying for the simpler things.

The source added that the “House of Villains” alum now “lives a very quiet life and spends a lot of time with Cruz and close friends that are on a similar path.” Taylor’s inner circle has seen him change for the better.

Taylor and Cartwright have effectively been co-parenting their son. They reached a custody agreement on March 9, reports E! News. The exes share joint legal custody and make decisions focused on Cruz’s well-being and welfare.

However, Cartwright has physical custody of Cruz, while Taylor has him every other weekend and occasional Wednesdays. The two agreed to share Cruz on holidays. They also plan to celebrate his birthday together.

Jax Taylor Announces Departure From ‘The Valley’

In July 2025, Taylor announced that he was leaving “The Valley” after two seasons. In a statement to PEOPLE, he said he was stepping away from reality TV and the spotlight to make new priorities in his life.

“Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting,” Taylor said in his statement. “Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”

During an episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Taylor apologized for his behavior on the show.

“Nobody should ever have to deal with the way I acted. Nobody should ever have to deal with, you know, verbal abuse from anybody,” Taylor said. “I’m really sorry that people had to see all that.”

Cartwright supported Taylor’s decision. She filed for divorce from the “Vanderpump Rules” alum in August 2024 after five years of marriage. The divorce still hasn’t been finalized.
