“The Valley” season 3 sees Kristen Doute as a first-time mom, after she and her fiancé, Luke Broderick, welcomed their daughter, Kaia Lilly, in June 2025. However, while they are in bliss raising their newborn, the couple is also facing intimacy challenges, an important topic Broderick opens up about to his co-star Jesse Lally.

In a sneak peek of the new season, Broderick shares, “Our relationship is completely lacking intimacy,” to which Lally replies that’s “to be expected.” However, Broderick adds, “Right. To some degree. I guess.”

Broderick then shares, “It should be something that we should be able to talk about, and we haven’t really.  She shuts down every advance. At what point do you stop trying?”

Lally encourages Broderick to have those “hard conversations” because it could lead to “resentment,” to which Broderick says, “I think my natural defense mechanism to frustrations or whatever is just like basically kind of turning off emotions. We’re gonna sweep everything under the rug until it turns into cement and we’ve got a permanent issue that we can’t get rid of.”

Doute Gets Real About Relationship Hardships in ‘The Valley’ Season 3

Meanwhile, Kristen Doute opens up to her co-star Nia Sanchez about why she and Broderick have been struggling with intimacy. For Doute, the issue is deeply personal; she admits that she hasn’t been feeling comfortable in her body since giving birth to Kaia Lilly.

It’s a vulnerability that resonates with many new moms navigating postpartum challenges, including Sanchez.

Telling Sanchez that Broderick “gets it as well as he can get it,” she adds, “But he’s like, ‘Can we try to have sex? Can we do this? You’re cleared for that.’ I also hate my body right now. He wants to have sex all the time, and he’s like, ‘Well, I love your body. I like that your boobs are bigger and I like that you have a butt.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s really nice but…’”

In a confessional, Doute further says, “We’ve always had a really healthy sex life, and it was just pretty regular. But sex made a baby, and now sex doesn’t exist.”

Doute even reshared a story on her Instagram from a fan who wrote after watching the trailer, “This is something so many couples experience after a baby. I appreciate [Luke Broderick] and [Kristen Doute] for being brave enough to share their journey.”

Doute also included a heart and an applause emoji. In fact, when another fan asked, “Are they together now?” Doute gave a simple yet powerful response, “Yes,” along with a pink heart emoji.
