‘Southern Charm’s’ Whitner Slagsvol: 5 Facts About the Newest Cast Member

Bravo’s “Southern Charm” returns on Nov. 19 for season 11 with beloved OGs like Shep Rose, Craig Conover, Madison LeCroy, and Austen Kroll back on our screens. The season also sees a couple of fresh faces, including former model and art curator Charley Manley and lawyer Whitner “Whit” Slagsvol.

While Manley finds herself at odds with close friend Salley Carson over their interest in Conover, Slagsvol is the group’s mediator per Bravo’s bio of the newbies. How will another “Whit” fit in this tight-knit circle of friends?

Whitner “Whit” Slagsvol is a Charleston Lawyer

Bravo calls Whitner “Whit” Slagsvol a “handsome lawyer” with close ties to both Shep Rose and Craig Conover. Looking at his LinkedIn, Slagsvol is the founder of Slagsvol Law Firm, a “boutique corporate, entertainment law, and civil litigation firm,” based in Charleston, South Carolina. He founded the law firm back in 2017. On his firm’s website, he is described as a “Top Rated Business & Corporate Attorney in Charleston, SC.”

According to his Bravo bio, Slagsvol’s legal skills aren’t just for the courtroom; they also come into play on “Southern Charm” season 11 as he steps in to mediate several on-screen conflicts.

“He has keen perspective, which manifests into an ability to mediate group conflict like an old pro,” it reads.

Slagsvol Went to Law School with Craig Conover

Slagsvol attended Charleston School of Law in 2012 and graduated with a Juris Doctor in Products Liability, Workers Compensation, and Insurance in 2015. According to Bravo, it’s where he met Conover, who was also attending law school at the time.

As fans may recall, earlier seasons of “Southern Charm” heavily focused on Conover’s castmates questioning why he hadn’t yet passed the bar exam. However, he eventually took the South Carolina bar exam and passed in 2017, and was officially sworn into the South Carolina bar the following year.

Bravo also noted that Slagsvol is close friends with Shep Rose. So, it seems that he is already pretty familiar with the Charleston scene.

Going Into Law Was an ‘Accident’

When reading Slagsvol’s educational background on LinkedIn, it notes that he graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Film in 2012. However, Slagsvol ended up taking a totally different route by entering law school right after graduating.

In a 2018 Charleston college blog post, Slagsvol shared that practicing law was “a bit of an accident.”

“It was a bit of an accident that I went to law school in the first place… I met a professor at the College School of Law and he mentioned that an English major was a great foundation for law school,” he shared. However, his English major became highly valuable as he sought his law degree. “The skills you hone, as an English major, are invaluable in life, not just law school,” he said.

Does Slagsvol Find Himself in Any Drama on ‘Southern Charm?’

The “Southern Charm” season 11 trailer gives fans a first glimpse of the newcomer. In one scene, he’s seen visiting Charleston socialite Patricia Altschul’s lavish estate, where her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, and Shep Rose are also gathered, presumably for one of her signature all-men dinner parties.

When Altschul states, “I’ve heard a lot of things about you,” Slagsvol fires back with, “Most of them are lies.”

It’s unclear is Slagsvol will find himself caught up in any of the drama with the Charleston crew, but he will find himself at the center of some of it thanks to his mediating abilities.

Is Slagsvol Single?

It’s hard to determine Slagsvol’s relationship status, but all signs point to him being single. Will he find himself forming a romance with someone on the “Southern Charm” cast this season?

Although Slagsvol does not appear to have a special someone in his life, he does have a loyal companion, his dog, Bacchus, who often pops up on his Instagram. In June, Bacchus celebrated his tenth birthday, and the following month, Slagsvol welcomed a new furry family member: a puppy named Artemis.
